Mike, I don't typically criticize your blogs, I just think you are guilty of the same thing as Babcock. Way too much turnover in the offseason has resulted in a team still learning chemistry. Really, the only line that was together last season was Matthews, and that was largely without Nylander. Its going to take probably 20 games before this team ia familiar enough with the new faces that they begin to play woth cohesion. There's a lot to be said about high and immediate turnover, but it never results in instant success.

That would suck, if, 20 games in they went like 5 - 15 with all the money puck guys not hitting the mark.

The leafs got stuck-up by Matthews, Marner, and Nylander. And added the weight of J.T's contract, somethings gotta give.

I consider Matthews the father of the new era contract, the 5 yr deal giving every player more opportunity to cash in. And all of a sudden 2 yr bridge deals are now boutique deals for the players who can challenge themselves in two-year sets and succeed.

At what point do you want change?
