We’re paying for those three championships, plain and simple.

And thank God we have them, at least that can't be taken away, imagine if the Hawks won nothing, hello Buffalo Bills.

He's right, that trip was an absolute joke, they go all that way for one game, why? Now they'll have to double up on games to catch up, btw, that OT goal was totally on Lehner, no one else, weak, weak glove side goal.
- Butcherboy66

Everyone knew the trip was going to be difficult.

Or, otherwise said, there may be some trouble inside the locker room. NOT saying that's the case, but makes me wonder about the possibility for the first time in a long time.

This is all McD and his annoying PR machine, enough with the overseas and winter classic and outdoor series games blah blah blah..I don't blame guys like Toews or Kane etc., they want nothing to do with all the dog and pony anymore, don't blame them, McD is the first guy to go, way way too much power and has no hockey clue at all, won't happen though.

In spades, Darth. Which is why, it might be the best option to blow it up into smithereens. Yesterday is gone. There will be no Beatles reunion. Time to face the facts, so all of us can move on. I think any attempts to merge the future with any aspect of the past is a fool's errand.

Truth..and I don't know how much of a difference a coaching change would make to this line up, sell high and quick before you get nothing..

I don't have a clue as to how those games are determined, and who is chosen. I think they are silly too. I think any aspiring and talented rookie would have jumped on the opportunity to play in Prague. As per Lehner, the guy was superb throughout most of the game. I've never played hockey, but can easily see how a wicked shot could dip on any goalie. The timing of it stunk, I agree 100%.

You'd have to space it out a little, I think. Start trading a handful of ex-stars, and they'd burn the U.C. to the ground. But, the fact remains, it is going to happen sooner or later. Time marches on. With the exception of Kane, all our current stars would be nice additional pieces to an NHL team. All we are doing by holding on, is attempting to avoid the inevitable.

I don’t think blowing it up is an option. I doubt anyone would take on Toews, Keith or Seabrook. Kane could be traded, but if he’s the only one there’s no point. Plus, I doubt the team will get fair value for Kane.

The issue is that besides DeBrincat the Hawks haven’t been able to draft replacements for the core (as they age). Keith has to play 25 minutes because there’s nobody else. I think the Hawks should take a look at the amateur scouting staff. Maybe Boqvist and Dach can be part of the new core, but they were top 8 picks and they should.

Jeez, the standings must be wrong.

Flyers went to Prague, then back to Philly for a game Wednesday, then across the continent for a game tonite (SO loss) in Vancouver.

The CAN’T be 2-0-1=5 after all of that.

The “dog and pony” sells the sport, creates more revenue, more for the owners - and players. If they want nothing to do with it - quit, give up the rest of your contracts....

AND look at the development crew in Rockford. Even considering the low draft picks the Hawks have had for the last 10 years, very few NHL regulars have come thru the Hogs system n

Hope I'm not coming across as either angry or defeated. I'm neither one. Someone should be held accountable if Keith is the only option this late in his career, no? We had an up and coming kid in Joker, and he wasn't apparently good enough. Gilbert makes one miscue due to jitters and being young. Send him down to Rockford and hang on to Gus and Koekkoek instead. Just think Hawks brass are being a little dishonest. All they are attempting to do is save face. I have some faith in the two you mentioned, and others, too. May as well play them, if warranted. This team, as currently constructed, is going nowhere fast.

Expected lines vs. Grand Rapids:

Versteeg-Nilsson-Wedin
Highmore-T.Sikura-D.Sikura
Saarela-Entwistle-Quenneville
Moutrey-Dach-Hagel

Gilbert-Boqvist
Beaudin-Tuulola
Carlsson-Holm

Delia

Thanks, Walleye. That was the exact lineup the Hogs rolled out against the Griffins.

The top 3 players in the Hogs game were Sikura, Dach, and Entwistle.

Sikura was buzzing in the O zone creating numerous scoring chances and netting his 2nd goal in as many games with a wrister from the top of the circles. He's confident at cycling through the zone looking for options or just taking the shot himself.

Dach is just so silky smooth with the puck. Great stickhandler. Uses his long reach well on both ends. Like Entwistle, he's hard to knock off the puck. When the other team does knock him down, it doesn't matter because he retains the puck and just keeps on trucking. He and Sikura were making things happen nearly every shift (on separate lines).

Entwistle is very strong with and without the puck. It's hard for the other team to contain him. Both he and Dach use their large frames and long reach to their advantage in all zones. If you need to win the puck back, Entwistle is who you send on that mission.

Highmore and Hagel had their moments. Relentless little buggers who get their nose dirty to make plays.

Boqvist made simple plays on the breakout to move the puck up to a forward in the neutral zone. Although he did a good job picking his spots to jump up in to the play, he would linger too long down low in the O zone whenever he did pinch.

All in all, he had a decent game with the simple breakout plays and stick checking. A few shots both from the point and in close.

However, there were a few plays when he tried to carry the puck in himself but would get shut down or forced to make an ill-advised pass.

I wish i coukd find more information from "theAHL.com "site. The box score does not provide TOI. I try to gleen whom was first pair on defense, whom played how much on pp and pk.
- jhawk59

Gilbert and Boqvist were the 1st pair.

Dach had 2 sog. Icehogs lost to Grand Rapids - they had two top picks in their lineup. Of course so did us. Despite the 4-2 loss, the three srar selection had Beaudin first star and. D Sukura #3 star.

- jhawk59

Beaudin was quiet but really steady. Simple plays. He thought defense first the whole game as he rarely ever jumped in to the play. I thought he was the best D-man in the game.

BTW i exoect that Beaudin plays significant TOI in Chicago before Boqvist does. Wedin had the first goal. I anxiously await a report how well EACH of the dmen performed. Maybe after 5-10 gp enough sample size to abalize and give early indication whom is playing well and developing well.

- jhawk59

Gilbert was generally fine as a defensive specialist but would sometimes hold on to the puck too long on the breakout.

That's what I appreciated most about Boqvist and Beaudin: quick plays to move the puck out of the zone to a teammate to carry up ice.

Tuulola was only noticeable when he played the body. Decent game.

Carlsson competes hard but can be overly aggressive which leads to penalties. Can't fault him on his effort.

Holm is clearly a puck mover with okay defense. No major gaffs but wasn't an impact player either.

Hawks break out passes were right into the teeth of the defense. Reminds me of college club players trying to be hot shots in our men's groups. Doesn't work. Also I was laughing in frustration watching Saad try to dipsy doodle guys inside and out for no good reason. He is not a smart player.

Morning hawks fans. Another loss again. Chicago played great for 1 period the 1st , came out in the 2nd period and went MIA to cost them the game.

Sure they gave up only 2 goals , that's in part because Lehner played fantastic.

The OT goal against wasn't his fault the puck dipped on him. Why did JC put toews Kane and Gus out their , Gus of all people shouldn't be rewarded he is awful .

Saad Kubalick and kampf each had 1 shot for 60 minutes ?

It's time for Stan to trade Gus , and bring up Gilbert or boqvist.

Lehner, Dehaan, Maatta, Keith, Saad, Shaw, Capenter
Debrincat (very Versteeg like make poor decisions at his own blueline)

Last two goals were not Colliton's system. On the 2nd goal Gus is on the forward's back going behind the net. But then he loses the gap and gives the player time and space. Mulitple Hawks move to cover the slot. No one covers the back door. On the 3rd goal Kane loses the gap and gives the player time and space.

I do not like Gus as the 1st defender in OT.

Nylander, Toews, Shaw
ADB, Strome Kane
Saad, Kamp (Dach). Kubalik
Caggiula, Carpenter, Smith,
Perlini

Plus they give up Dahlstrum on waivers who played in all key situations for the Jets last Night & looked good doing it !

That said - I think the forward core looks a lot better despite the slow start

Hawks can not break out of the zone because the book is out on them. Stand up at the center line and make them dump and chase if they even get to the center line.

Unfortunately Colliton and this coaching staff doesn't have a better answer on how to beat this pressure. Watch the good teams pressure the puck all over the ice, and yet the Hawks still play passive and refuse to play an aggressive 60 minutes of hockey. Is it talent, is it coaching, is it lack of enthusiasm ???

Something is missing..
Once again, I feel this team has too much talent to be under-performing yet again. Another head-scratching start to a season with 3 Hall of Famers still playing well ????

Yea but that's on the Blackhawks for not dumping the puck and fore checking in periods 2 and 3 while he was on the ice, they played 100 feet of hockey with the lead.

Honestly this has been the Hawks MO for Q's reign as well, they are stubborn and do not want to dump the puck in, this is on the players. 3rd and 4th lines dump the puck quite often.
