Told you guys I was ready for a full on rebuild.

Please launch these bums into the sun. Gus, Special K, Smith and Carpenter.

Its hurts my heart watching Smith and Carpenter try to handle the puck. They have rendered Caligula useless. Gus and Special K being on the ice together other than at practice is an affront to every hockey fan except TG.

- Elbows15

I would have to agree on Smith and Carpenter not doing much to create an overall effective 4th line. Caggiula competes hard in all zones, rarely makes mistakes, adds consistent sandpaper, and shows decent offensive skill.

On the other hand, Smith and Carpenter are slow and not moving the needle much as far as contributing to a gritty 4th line that can grind down the opposition. They're not horrible but not factors either.

Once Dach gets healthy enough to play, have Kampf center Caggiula with just one of Carpenter or Smith. Or even call up Highmore to see what he can do for that 4th line.

Players like Perlini and Sikura don't play a 4th line style but would be options for the middle 6.

So, Edzo, who do you recommend to replace Stan? You're a big hockey guy, so give us a name?

perlini and nylander: two of stanbow's first round reclamation projects...

be nice if one of them is reclaimed...please...

- bogiedoc

So far Stan is 1 (Strome) for 4 (including DuClair a couple of years ago) with reclamation projects.

Two still up in the air, of course....

Let’s hope they are.

However, after Dach, who is a forward prospect that projects for the top 6? The deal is still too soon to declare, but I at least understand why the move was made.

- Chief4Feathers

Nylander and Kurashev come closest to being a top 6 forward prospect.

I like Kubalik's game so far and he's stating his case but I do like the synergy he has with Saad on the 3rd.

Nylander is scratched this weekend bc he’s taking a trip to Oz to acquire some courage.

- EnzoD

Are you officially calling Nylander a bust? And the trade a loss? Just want to quote you correctly in the future; I know you get sensitive.....

I know you live for internet shenanigans opposed to actual hockey dialogue, so here’s hoping Alex Nylander can be half of what his brother is doing in Toronto.

Like you’ve said Mohel, some people are in a rush to declare failure, just so they can be the first in line to do it.

I understand the doubt about JC just as I understand it about Nylander, but I haven’t seen enough of the situation to definitively declare it one way or the other. People can say that’s dim-witted, I’d like to say it’s prudence based on experience.

Sorry about the name mistake.

Surprised a sharp hockey guy like you can't name a replacement. BTW, I've not claimed Stan should be replaced, eh?

Sikura is also probably 4th in line at best to get called up.
- Assman22

I think Sikura would be either 1st or 2nd in line for a forward call-up from Rockford. Highmore would be the other option, IMO. It depends on team need.

If a middle 6 forward is needed, call up Sikura. But if a 4th liner is needed, call up Highmore.

Wedin is an option, too, given how long he fared in training camp (particularly if there is a bottom 6 need).

Way too early to call up Kurashev, Entwistle, Saarela, or Hagel. Give them more time to develop.

Well it’s clear to me that the Hawks front office is severely lacking in snark, sarcasm, and passive aggressive internet trolling. So I sent McD your info already. You can thank me later.

And who doesn't want to have a hockey discussion?

You said you think Stan should be on the hot seat. I asked who you'd like to replace him. Your response? Silly talk and name calling. Grow up. Back up your statements.

Carolina 5-0 and playing the best hockey I’ve seen in the league this season. Of course, it’s easy to look terrific on a 5 game winning streak.

But they’re playing the way the game should be played - suffocating defense that doesn’t allow much, forecheck and possession game....

Protecting a lead tonite, they allowed only 2 SOG in the 3rd (altho they did give up 2 PP goals earlier).

Teuvo - points in all 5 games.

Exciting team, exciting atmosphere - jealous of the way they play.

I don't buy this 4th line style, just do your job, that's all he has to do. Learn how to play defense it just takes (frank)ing heart and effort.

Foxy, do you think Sikura, Highmore and/or Wedin would help the Hawks PK? That problem remains on the to-do list, imo.

I'd throw Kurashev's name in the ring too.

Not yet, for sure. But, how can they look good on the PK? JC has a system where guys are supposed to let in goals.
