So the team that beat us last night gets owned in their own barn by the Malkinless Penguins.
And now we face the 5-0 Oilers. Ouch!!!

Right now we have Dach in the bay (Rockford) waiting to sail down I90 to help the Blackhawks. He represents a strength at center or in forward depth if only Toews wasn't horsecrap AGAIN in the early going yet AGAIN next season same poor start. Toews is paid well but delivers little punch. He has an issue or problem and i do not know what it is. I hate to guess what it is. He is now Johnny B Good (not).

Hahahaha, yes!!

Also, glad you got a laugh about Edm.

Tomas Jurco wasn't exactly a slouch entry, buddy. If not in the press box, he'll probably slap a deuce on us. In all seriousness, we haven't exactly had a plethora of good things bounce our way in 3 games. That might change, starting tomorrow. Please, these things eventually do even out, don't they?

I was referring to the quality of opposing players on the EDM club, Chunk! I'll "give you" a 6-3 loss while you slink away grinning.

Sorry, had to. Too easy. The crazy thing is, like WIN, they are rather thin in the blue line as well. I haven’t been able to watch any of their games yet though.

I am currently watching LA/VGK. Two teams playing hard and fast. This just in, Pacioretty can still snipe with the best of them.

Check out the line ups. Penguins have many lesser lights new faces and depth players. Role players. Rookies & or young players. Which is the same sort of roster Chicago will feature after this season

For the Jets Dahlstrom.was in a second consecutive game.

Yes! Get a win under your belt, for goodness sake. We've been "in" every game we've played, while playing poopty. Our goal differential stands at a measly -3. At some point, the Hawks are going to hand another team, their head. It would not surprise me one bit, if EDM ends up being that team.

Gives me some hope just to hear it. My question is, why can't we develop role players in short order like other teams seem to do? Was more than pleased with Carpenters' role last night. Hope he can sustain it, because we sure could use that type of performance over a long season.

Players now openly (as in publicly through press) questioning their own role and others'. This was just not done (to my recollection) before this year.

you are over reading this...the reporter is pushing that narrative not the players quotes...

of course saad wants to play more and be on the pp...in my book he is
not very good passer
not very good net presence
not a great perimeter shot or onetimer

he can bull rush and crash net and gets 80% of his goals with in 2-3 feet of net and rebounds...

he can play a 200 ft game but rarely does...the guy is not even a mini-hossa.

I don't see him as shutdown 1st line 3rd line guy either as he is trying to be used now..

he needs to be on the top line but the problem is disappears for long stretches because of his weaknesses...

One problem with calling for the GM’s head , after him you have a president and an owner that probably cannot name 10 current players on the roster minus the core guys that were here for the Stanley Cup runs.
This is the problem when you have a guy that is not what you call a hockey guy running the show to advise your owner when things have a potential to go bad at the top , and an owner , who unlike his dad , is not involved in the day to day operations of the team or the league. Let’s pray Bowman gets a lot of his guesses right moving forward or this team is in trouble in the future.
This is why I’d like to see Rocky hire either Chris Chelios or Eddie Olczyk as the top hockey guy who Tells McD which way it’s gonna go when it comes to the team and player decisions.

The Saad (sic purposely) truth is that his contract is cut loose probably through trade.

This has been discussed as a salary cap scenario. He is among a group which includes Crawford and maybe Murphy plus Gus' new contract. All could be jettisoned so that two big contracts (DeBrincat and Strome) is affordable ie. fits under salary cap. Saad has a place on this team if he was affordable despite shortcoming in his game.

Consider this:Bull rush forwards are a nice commidity to retain. But Saad"s salary has gone up as he has become a veteran yet his production/ability level remains stagnant to average. Now just as a btw sort of point to chew on: wheras Gus is maybe not going to fetch a mid first tound pick, Saad might. Or a Saad plus #2 for a #1.

Why wouldn't you doubt the players? Our #1 center was ranked 19th in the league last month...
- rpeters01

I thought I heard him comment this was going to drive him to prove everyone wrong.

He has, no way he is as high as #19 they way he's played so far.

I've learned from the past that when he looks and plays like he has so far, there is something physically wrong with him.

I thought he was skating really well in the 3 (2?) preseason games he played in - very encouraging.

Of course, his lines haven’t been complementary to his skills much so far....

Looking at Monday, what is happening to the once lowly Oilers? 5-0 to start and 3-0 on the road. Are they truly that good, or have the hockey gods given them a few assists to get them off to a perfect start? Haven't watched them yet. Outside of McDavid, what is going on?
- gabriel

It's going to be a good test for the Hawks tonight. Are the Oilers for real? Or are they just posers?

I think the Oilers are for real. It just shows how slim the difference is between winning and losing in the NHL. A couple tweaks to a roster. Some chemistry develops quickly and the team goes from narrowly losing games to winning games.

Not sure if the Hawks can make that jump. I felt the addition of DeHaan was significant. The play of Lehner was also (although I think over the course of the year Crow will provide more of the same). Not so sure of Colliton's line juggling, ability to match up with the opponents lines, or his system. But willing to give him a little more time. Also would be great if Dach is healthy and deemed to be NHL ready.

If the Hawks beat them, they are most certainly posers.

Have only been able to watch the Sharks game so far, so looking forward to tonight's game and hopefully a win.

Sounds like Dach had a generally good start to his pro career and was noticeable in mostly good ways from things I've read here (Theo and others) and the Athletic.

I think between the 5 games he should be able to get at Rockford and 9 more with the Hawks, they should have a pretty decent idea if he's ready or not to stay the whole season.

This team at times is very difficult to watch it's not a lot to ask for every player to go balls out every shift after all they are trained professional athletes that are well paid and taking care of. They have the same issues over and over again. Missed defensive assignments, bad penalties, always trying to make the cute play instead of the right one. Is it the Coaching staff and the systems they are trying to implement or the players one thing is for certain they better figure it out soon before they put themselves in a bigger hole and the season is lost I would like to see how Rocky and McD gonna address this imoving forward with the fan base
- BGKarras

I don't think going balls out for 82 games is practical. But looking organized and like they know what they're doing is not at all an unreasonable ask.

It is pretty hilarious how much of a poopshow it is again. Even with "training camp" and the "new defensive guys" it is still a mess.

Not having the lads playing like a team is kind of on the coach. Wonder at what point in time the Mark Crawford experience happens.

By the sound of things, it would be wise to stay out of the penalty box. They have some offensive punch. But, you know what? So do we! Tonight we put up our first win.

... and that should also be enough time to get a sense of whether this team is a dumpster fire and if you want to burn a year of his ELC being around it?

Ummm, we were deemed a dumpster fire in preseason. Your question has already been answered.

That's a take I hadn't considered, since the rose colored glasses are on at all times, but definitely a good question.
