Damn it feels like it’s taking forever to get this season in full swing, not sure if that’s gonna hurt or help us in the long run?

Good first week in the pool boys

And Frost consistently created more scoring chances.

Neither had a perfect camp, both had gaffes and moments where their inexperience was on display. I felt like both played well enough to make the team, but Twarynski was too noticeable.

I agree, in the Boston game I'd say Frost created the most scoring chances on the team easily. I also thought Twarynski brought the most energy and consistent game night in and night out and deserved that roster spot. Once Patrick gets back and we call up one of Farabee/Frost, move Twarynski to the fourth line or out, this team could be scary.

I felt the team was slow in Vancouver, they had/have a hard time generating speed, maybe just me. I’d like to see some quickness added to the team, maybe that’s in the form of Farabee?

The thing i like about Carsen is the way he plays and the role he is playing. 3rd 4th line minutes, the kid skates and takes the body, drives the net. For that role he can handle it better than frost/farabee with their lighter weights. I would not want either of them playing 4th line minutes and riding the pine due to a mistake. Let them play all situations and gain confidence in the ahl. Farabee may be a option if he continues to play the way he is, but to me there is no need to rush the process.

When/if patrick returns bunnaman will go down. improving our bottom 6 even more. (on paper anyways).

It seems like everyone thinks farabee will be the next call up. I would put money on it being Gabriel. and when it happens everyone will freak out. That or that is when stewart will be signed.

Jake-Hayes-G

All three like to have the puck, I think Jake looks a little lost with Hayes and G on the puck like they are...

I am a fan of putting Jake with JVR

- wcorvette

Jake looks frustrated at times. He lugs the puck a lot and so does Hayes. Think they need to flip the centers back. Coots ALWAYS makes his linemates better. Oskar and TK are rolling. See if Hayes can keep them going while Coots GETS G and Jake on track.

agreed....all that travel seemed to catch up with them. A couple of puck races did not go as i expected.

I thought we controlled the play in the third but it was more from cycling and possession down low. Coots, Hayes, “G”, etc. aren’t slow, but they’re not exactly quick either.

Flyers aren't really a fast team. Sound positioning and puck possession with QUICK passes are AVs system. Flyers have decent speed but are now bigger then they have been. I think this bodes well for the long season and playoffs. First line,
G Hayes Jake. @2 big guys and a small G
Linblom Coots TK 2 big guys and TK
JVR Patrick Farrabee 2 big guys and Farabee
Raffl Laughton Conner/Pitlick a 4th lines ALL over 6 feet and 200 lbs and can skate.
This team is HARD to play against. The pieces are coming together. We have good player in pretty much all slots. We have really good players waiting in the wings in LHV. We have good players in college. We have good player in Jr's. We have good players in Europe. Our top 2 goalie prospect are in the ECHL because there isn't room in the AHL tight now. We have Hart for a full season. We have AV and 2 new assistants. I like where we are and I like the future. This will be a fun season😁

Sure they can. One scoring line isn’t a winning formula (not that the 3rd line is doing bad, they are holding their own). It’s early and they need to find chemistry that works for the team as a whole. Even counting the preseason, most guys, if any, haven’t played this year with the same line more than 3 games. I don’t think they are set yet.

The line is playing well. Coots drive everything. Flip the centers and G and Jake will take off. Just have to see if Hayes can keep TK and Oskar going.

Looks like Flames got burned last night. Have the same number of points as the Flyers in 3 more games. The Oilers are due for a loss. They have trailed in every game so far. We all saw how well that worked out for the Flyers last year. It's so great to have to come back every game. Saturday's game confirmed that. Flyers trailed first and never could take a lead. Wound up losing. They never trailed in the first two and won. They have to jump on these teams early and run with it.

We haven't seen Sammy the giant play yet. I'm calling the Oilers game. Big team. Flames have a few big guys two. He GETS one of them I think. Then there is Rattcliff. Then there is Allison. Gotta have a blend of both size and speed.
I know the phrase you can't hit what you can't catch. First in this league, the big guys can skate. Second, as I used to tell the little guys, these rinks all have corners and you can't hide in front of the net.

The Hayes line has been fine. They are getting chances and also driving play. The goals and points will come. If it ain't broke, it don't need to be fixed.

Depends on what the need is. Not going to call up Gabriel for anything more than a 4th line role.

A team that is not "fast" throughout the lineup can play fast according to style of play as you alluded to. Good positioning, puck support, pressure in all 3 zones, quick puck movements leads to a team playing fast. Nobody can slate as fast as the puck moves.

If the First line pots a few we are goog. Don't really have a third line right now. It's been JVR and a pair of 4th line guys. I like Laughton but if he is centering the 3rd line the team isn't as strong. With Patrick back things can slot correctly again. I think Pitlick played a strong game and Carson scored a goal. It Wil come along. Should be soon,
