Uh, what? One # is not like the others. One listed number is producing at career-high levels...they all have enormous upside.

Absolutely. Fletcher was given a mandate. From that perspective, he has done a solid job to this point. There is no debating that.

It may not be the way we would have done it and Hexys plan to have multiple kicks at the can over the next several years made good sense. If the cap doesn't hurt us too much it could still be a viable situation. I know he chased DeHaan and Stastney and missed last year. The goalie situation killed the season as well. Gotta say though, short sample size but this team is more fun to watch then last year's team.
We are now in a wait and see mode but the team on the ice now is partially due to cap restrictions. So your posts to that effect were valid. Injuries have played a part and that is starting to clear up a bit.
Just a thought here. Do we have any forwards on the trip that are signed and healthy or is Morin the only healthy scratch and if a forward goes down we need to dress Sammy as the 7th d with 11 forwards.

Flyers are carrying 12 forwards as of now. We'll see what changes now that Welinski will be removed.

So do you think with the mandate to win now that they're going to trade JVR or Voracek for pieces of the future or to try and win now? It's not about what anyone can live with it's about the reality of the situation. When and if the Flyers try and move older players to make room for younger players, they're likely going to have to pay some kind of price for it.
- MJL

not sure your considering all possibilities. player for player trades happen. no one can tell the future. doesn't have to be for picks or prospects, could be two vets that help their new teams out based on their skillset. but as usual, people arguing hypothetical or possible future situations.

i.e. lucic for neal

8.5 mil a year for 20 goals/65 points? That's what you call good value?
- LW2530

Well I didn't sign him to it and I don't have to pay it. I don't really care about perceived value. But actually I think it is a fair value. A lot of guys getting big money now with worse numbers.

Voracek is averaging 70.67 points and 80.67 games in the three full seasons he has played season under his new contract.

like everyone said though and we all know. when he is motivated or in the game he is a hell of a player. prone to streakiness and not moving his feet though. Was it keith jones last year that got caught by the cameras bashing his effort when he's not on the first line......was somewhat accurate. again i would try

g-hayes-konecny

yeah, i think NJ is going down the same road as edmonton. playing their #1 picks bc they were #1 picks instead of using a little caution to easy them into the lineup. Not saying Hischier isn't a good player, but think he was rushed to that #1c role.

Guess we wait and see. IMO they aren’t all going to have down years...just their most recent seasons weren’t bad individually. TK will be improved, and he is already showing that.

The context of the conversation is trading older players to make room to add younger players. How does a Lucic for Neal trade accomplish that. Perhaps a review of the posts is in order.

Their goaltending is pretty bad too. I'm bummed they got Hughes but for right now they're a pretty meh team in my opinion. Nice to see them without a goalie for once lol

What's the story with the 79-80 Flyers? Mel Bridgeman was the captain and Bobby Clarke was still on roster. I was 7 during that season and don't remember why Clarke wouldn't have been captain.

Thanks for the explanation.

On August 10, 1979, Bobby Clarke was named a player-assistant coach.[5] In order to become an assistant coach, Clarke must give up the captaincy due to NHL rules.[6] Mel Bridgman was named Clarke's replacement as team captain on October 11.[7]
