there is no way you can stop that kind of thing if you keep hitting in the game.

His shoulder isnt explicitly hitting his head, its just Sandin is in a hunched over angle which lowers his head. and you cant stop the force of his head moving forward and hitting his shoulder when they collide.

Its just the nature of body check, the player throwing a hit positions himself to protect his body and tucks in the arm. again..shorter players bending their legs and coming in lower with their head forward are bound to have that happen.

also I dont see his skates leaving the ice

- senstroll

I agree, head was down...just saying what I seen, but IMO he did lunge up at Sandin with his feet leaving the ice...tough call I guess. I thought it was a penalty but whatever...I see your point too.

I see only 1 option then, dont throw a hit in that situation
- senstroll

Nah. Two options. Don't go high on a guy. He didn't have to and he did. That's why it was a dirty hit.

Jersey has a decent team on paper and he's been there awhile. Maybe Boudreau gets the axe first, but it seems a tossup.
- AdamFrench

Feel bad for Boudreau that lineup sucks ass, plenty of bad contracts and not much scoring.

after the collisions they do kindof pop up off the ice, but how can you stop that really...they are in action at high speeds crashing into each other..you are just going to continue on into the hit as you feel best at that point. the energy has to go somewhere.

I dont see how you can really throw a safe check from the JA side unless he just goes to his knees and slided into him... but Sandin had his head pushed forward anyways, so he likley his the head no matter what

I thought it was just before but only watched it a couple times...didn’t study it, surprised he didn’t have to go to the concussion room to be honest.

At some point i think we're gonna have to stop predicting the Panthers are making the playoffs because they massively improved over the summer.

Easy. Don't leave your feet/propel yourself upwards and go high. Hit with the right shoulder instead of the left, that way you don't need to over extend and get him in the head.

It doesn't need to be a huge smashing hit, which is what he went for. He could have easily just skated into him and knocked him into the boards. The result would have been the exact same, except he wouldn't have hit him in the head.

and this is more what I am gettng at. I dont know that you can fully accept huge hits in the League and get rid of the head contact. You have to really change how a player makes contact.

also besides, when it comes to the head, you dont even need to make contact with it. a big heavy hit to your body can shake your brain around anyways just from impact.

we are focused on point on contact..but who knows what damage a hit does just from the bodies colliding

Florida are poor and very overrated. Barkov may be the most overrated player in the NHL

Fair enough.

Still hit him directly in the head, though, and it should have been a penalty.

I still think Barkov is pretty awesome.

But Bobrovsky has been pretty bad so far.

Giving any goalie term and that much money is a horrible idea.

History proves it, it’s way too risky.

I am sooo sick of hearing how Florida has great young talent and will take the next step. I've heard that for the past 15+ years.

That Bobrovsky contract is so horrible, Something, something no state tax. LOL
