Yes, Anaheim was traveling back to CA right after their game yesterday so they may have only gotten into town a couple hours ahead of the Sabres. So in terms of facing teams out west, that definitely takes the travel factor out that the visiting team normally has to deal with.

On the other side if this trip, we have a home and home with SJ, so they'll be dealing with the East travel as well, so hopefully that evens things up for the first home game back from the trip as well. Kind of like how this schedule has been so far.

Definitely.

As long as they keep the game simple, I think they will be alright.

To me the thought it there, but in reality your giving up more than its worth than just letting them take whoever.

this guy gets it.

Maybe we should just let them have Olofsson because we're so desperate to get rid of Okposo.

Olofsson is going to make things difficult for the expansion draft as it is. Not that it's a bad thing.

SBroads may be right. Miller might be the casualty.

We still have another season to make a determination on our young players. Two, really. It's gonna be tougher this time around. Fortunately we won't lose Ullmark or UPL.

Think this time around, not including any trades we make in the next calendar 1.5 years, you lose Thompson, Asplund, Montour or Risto.

You manage to trade Risto for a young top 6, you don't have to lose either.

Makes it a lot easier to do a 7/3/1. Like it or not, Risto's been serving this team well, so far, this year.

What would we do if Elie was picked in the expansion draft? I'd assume we'd just tank.

Wouldn't Botts look like such a PUTZZ if he went to MoJo's camp and said, "Look, we're building something special, and we think you're a long term missing piece. I'll give you a two year prove it deal, then if things go according to plan, there will be more dollars and years for you after that deal. You also avoid needing protection in the ExDraft, and we can keep this core intact for a while."

I mean what a serious PUTZ to be thinking of long term success.

But, he's really not that forward thinking right?

He had to be focused on immediate success to save his own bacon, rather than thinking long term and setting the team up for continuous success.

What?

Didn't the game become a black hole, literally?

Or did they launch a new update?

Unless he told the Pegula's that he needed a little bit of time to clear the mess and build properly. Accept slight improvement year over year, and go all in before jumping the gun. The rumored reason Murray was fired was because he had zero answers on how to fix it. And the immediate success of the MoJo signing, would be the MoJo signing. The amount of years to sign him didn't have to be two. I think that's where the forward thinking came in.

expansion is a long ways away but I see a path where we protect 7 forwards, 3 d men and have a deal in place where they don't take a certain d man or 2

protect up front
eichel
reinhart
skinner
olofsson
casey
tage
player x, probably brought in this off season

risto, dahlin, joker

I was following the trend of sarcasm, or what I thought was sarcasm, from the poster I replied to.

I think that Botterill is trying to plan ahead, regardless of the notion that he's on the hot seat. The Pegula's seem to be invested in both regimes and have not given either the kiss of death that I have seen in the past.
