Good move. We needed a speedy sniper - DaveofYork
I like Stewart but even I had to laugh when this was the first thing I read after this most above. |

So I guess signing Stewart just pushes back any chance of Farabee coming up anytime soon. Obviously they value Stewart more the Farabee right now with the big club. - Buzzo
I don’t think so. I’m doubting Bunnaman sees the entire season and I question the same with Twarynski, even with how hard he works. There is room. |

From watching the last behind the glass episode, sounds like they just don't think Farabee and Frost are ready. Stewart can sit and it's no problem, while Farabee NEEDS to play. I personally would like to see Frost and Farabee rather than Stewart, but not if they're not ready. Look at what's happening to Hughes in NJ.. |

When did Philadelphia become the city of pussies?
Not every fan base believes toughness and fighting is out of the game. Not every GM believes this either. Zach Kassian is well liked in Edmonton by the fan base. I don’t know how Calgary feels about Lucic but I can tell you right now is, the only Lucic does well is throw players around...and don’t tell me this doesn’t intimidate opposing players. Some of you are still hoping Morin can do a little bit of this.
I get it. You want a more talented tough guy. Well draft one. |

Not at all. Stewart is the 13th forward. Brunmann may get sent down and we arent likely to keep 8 Dmen all year. |

I like the deal. Low risk and he provides a physical game and can still contribute offensively. It's not like they signed a Rinaldo.

Myers may not have had a great camp, but he's too good for the AHL and needs to be on the roster and playing regularly. Signing Stewart means there's no space for him unless they trade/waive Hagg or Morin. |

Stewart looked like a wussy in his two preseason fights. He got smoked both times. |

Calgary has Lucic. He had 20 pts last year with a $5.25 mil cap hit.
Stewart had 16 pts the last season he had in the NHL, 21 the previous. He has a $750k cap hit.
Both provide the same thing.
IMHO!!!!! |

Thing is what is the future of the team. Braun is currently on a 1 year deal. Do we really want to ship a young guy if he isnt going to come back at a lower cap hit? Hagg would be a good #7 but we can always get another guy to fill that role. Where does Fletcher feel Myers and Morin fit on this team now and going forward? |

They don't need to send Bunnaman down to play Stewart. - MJL
How much sense does it make to have a 21-year-old kid healthy scratched when he could be getting NHL ice time, or at least AHL ice time? |

Getting close to the 50-contract limit now too. They're at 48 by my count now. Probably need to keep one open to sign Laczynski, so they are effectively at 49. |

Dumb move to sign Stewart. There is no way to spin it. Team already has plenty of vets, all more talented btw. And we have talented kids in the AHL knocking on the door. Classic example of being loyal to a fault on Fletcher's part.
At least Hextall knew to keep his son in the AHL... - hereticpride
Which vets are you referring to? Before signing Stewart, the team was only carrying 12 forwards. If the Flyers want to bring up another kid, they can send Bunnaman down and call up another player. If they signed Stewart to be the 13th forward, it's okay, as you don't want a kid sitting. If he is a regular in the lineup, then he needs to show me more than I saw in the pre season to justify it. |

Not against Stewie, but once Patrick is back Bunnaman goes down anyways, so then we would not be able to call up another kid? Or Patrick already counts against cap correct? |

Good point.
No idea what the time table is for Patrick's return though. |
