Agreed, to an extent.

It's a good thing to experience once, but there is no need to go back more than once a decade, if that, and certainly not every year or every couple of years.

I've always been on the side of replay under the pretense that the game has become so fast that it's easy to miss something big. However, the expansion of the replay rules has become so ridiculous that I don't find this take as crazy as I used to. I still think it's necessary because it's an industry worth billions of dollars, and you owe it to the paying customers to get things as right as possible, but I am more sympathetic to the opposite argument than I ever have been.

It's often infuriating, but it's necessary. Before HD, maybe they could do it, because if you're watching an OTA broadcast in standard definition, you cant tell if a guy's toe is in or out most of the time, but people watch in 1080p or better now. Replay is necessary.

I'm not claiming to know how to fix bad officiating, but I would, i guess, start by making them full-time employees and train them more vigorously.

i have a friend that goes twice a year with her mom. I don't get it. Maybe in like 3 years or so it'll be fun to take the kiddo, but other than that, I'm not sure what the fascination is.

I had a friend get married a few years ago and they decided to take their honeymoon there. They got back and she was like, "Whoever said Disney is the happiest place on earth is an idiot. It's hot, you stand in line all day, it's expensive, it's crowded, and there's screaming children everywhere." They even went when it wasn't peak season and that's how she felt about it.

My wife and I went for our honeymoon for 8 days at the end of last October.

It was one of the few places we could think of where all we had to do is get on a bus and we would be brought to a place where all the entertainment was easily accessible. We thought of an all inclusive, but we did not want to be stuck on an island somewhere in October with a hurricane bearing down, plus, neither of us drink, which feels like most of the allure of all inclusive resorts.

At Disney in Orlando last October, we encountered almost no lines, the temps were moderate (80 during the day, 60 at night), and even cool as it was 40-45 our final two mornings there, we did not hear any screaming children (too much noise from activities and events to hear it), the food and wine festival at Epcot was great, and we did a couple of excursions including a personal safari at Animal Kingdom.

It was a fun one time visit down there.

The blatant consumerism of Disney bummed me the (frank) out when I went back as adult. Strangely, universal did not. There's something so unapologetic about the way Disney sells its brand that just... well, bums me out.

Yeah but this years defense has been playing way better than during last years streak.

SV% is a pretty reliable stat though. Carter Hutton for the past six years for example:

Average is 913, so even factoring in his career year, he was only five points lower on a 'bad' team. Flip that and maybe he is back up around 915-918 or so.

Currently he's at 931. I really don't see him being able to maintain that.

Ullmark is career average of 911 and he is also at 931 through just two starts, but there is more potential there that he could actually finish the season around .920-.925 if he makes a big improvement.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying i won't go. I just don't understand the people who go multiple times a year. Especially those that have to travel to get there. It's different if you live nearby, buy a season pass for a much more reasonable price when you break it down, and only maybe go for a bit to a park to do certain things and then leave.

The craziest part about my friend that goes with her mom is that neither of them like rides. There's a handful of them they'll go on, but if its even remotely intense, forget it. (I'm talking they'll do rides like it's a small world, anything more intense than that and forget it).

Interesting you say that as I thought the prices at Universal, including the cost to get in, where horrid compared to Disney.

I believe the two park one day pass at Universal was $150+, compared to roughly $100 at Disney for the park hopper.

Neither is cheap by any means, and we had a grocery delivery to our room at Disney the first day we were there so we had snacks and drinks covered as we brought those to the park every day.

This was an outstanding experience, despite it being silly expensive.

I'm a fan of Harry Potter, and the part of Universal that's dedicated to it is seriously amazing. Really makes you feel like you're there which is super cool.

I'll say the prices at both are insane so it's not something I'd do often either way.

I will say this.... The holloween party time is really cool

I enjoy a lot of different foods so the food and wine festival is nice

But we were talking about where to eat in april..... They want to go to an Italian restaurant..... we can drive 5 mins and have as good Italian

That line confuses me. I'm hoping you meant she didn't know she was pregnant with your second child until your son was 2 1/2. Or, you didn't know she was pregnant until 2 1/2 months.

I'm not talking about price so much. Just the ambiance or culture of Disney is too much for me. It's hard to put into words. Cartoons selling a brand is just the 7th layer of hell to me. The whole thing gives me an Edward Scissorhands neighborhood vibe.

Been to both multiple times with the kids. Didn't take the kids to Disney until my oldest was 7, little one was 3. Waited b/c I saw no reason to spend that amount of $$$ for something neither would remember. Did Disney like 4 years straight then went to Universal a few times. Completely different experiences but enjoyed them both. Time of year is key. I refuse to go during summer or spring break so we would yank the kids out of school and go in late Sept. Not exactly empty, but not overly packed either. Now that my kids are older and can't take an entire week off, the last time we went to Universal we went in May for a long weekend.

Both places KILL you for one or two day passes. They want you in their parks for your entire trip. The only way to get the cost per day to go down is with a multiple day pass.
