Nah. Guy in my profile is Hektor. I’ve had him for 9 years. This little guy is Odin, me and the lady picked him up tonight. She wanted a pup and it’ll keep her busy while I watch/play hockey hahah

He’s actually embarrassing for a pens blogger. I’m pretty sure he’s lost 100% of his backers that read and comment on here now. I think he is better then he writes now but for the last year there is zero argument for how bad his writing has been here. - pens4life-66
We'll get a Tanev sucks/is overpaid/his contract is too long blog for sure tomorrow

Wow. So I fell asleep last night but it’s been pretty evident that Tanev and Kahun are both more suited for top six than Simon. Let him “drive possession” for days and swat pucks around on a checking line. Hell if he’s that good let him do it against the other teams top line for some favorable matchups. You guys can try to draw lines back to where all of Sids lines success came from Simon but had zero factor on either of their goals. That Jboyd is how your stats are skewed. |

Natural Stat Trick has the second best defenseman behind Letang as ... Jack Johnson. The worst d-man in the last decade at 3.25, better than Dumo (4.1) and Justin 'Looking for a Raise' Shultz (5.0). I know it is just one game but it is already the second time this year that it happened. |

I usually don’t criticize Letang because I respect his game so much, butifi had to teach a 12 year old what not to do on s2-1 I’d just show them the video of the McKinnon goal. |

What about Ka-WHO-n? Meh ... - chimpira
Analytically he was the number one player last night. Kahun, Lafferty and 'can't drive play' Hornqvist was the top line. Second was Tanev, Blueger and ZAR.
Seriously I thought Kahun was flying out there in the few shifts he had. Maybe this is the kick in the pants he needs. |

With Letang you must take the good with the bad because the good outweighs the bad.
That was possibly the weakest defense of a two on one that I have ever seen. |

He also has hands, a shot and some obvious goal scoring touch. |

I missed the big Pen's game, because I was at the little Pens game. I got to witness Kasper Björkqvist's first goal and Justin Almeida's. Stefan Noesen put up 2 more goals. They came away with the win after being in a 3-1 deficit. I think Björkqvist might find his way up eventually. You could see glimpses of his strength. |

He's hated the Pens ever since Ron Hainsy hoisted the cup against all his stats that said he couldnt. - stackthepads
Indeed. It's almost like every game should be reviewed afterwards, to see if the advanced stats verify the win. I feel badly for some folks (RW) who now seem only able to 'watch' the sport through the lens of advanced stats, and they'll practically deny a win to... I don't know what... confirm the stats?? |

I thought the Pens played a solid game against what RW labeled basically an unbeatable opponent for them. I don't recall even the shortest stretch where the Avs had any control of the game... well... except for the one spot in the 3rd where an Avs hand pass may have saved JJ and Marino stuck in their own end...
Tanev looks great, Kahun not so much. Sid and Jake are just killin' it. The stuff Jake can do with the puck, even when he doesn't score.
Letang -2. Just sayin'
I'll typically walk away from the TV if a game goes to a shootout... still don't think it has any place in anything but amateur hockey... but an overtime shorthanded goal??

I wasn't a big fan of Simon, let alone being on Sid's line. He sure is making me think twice. I like that line a lot. I feel pretty comfortable right now in saying that when the team is healthy, I'd be ok with Rust and another certain piece leaving. |

Dude you don't care about the logo, the line is better with simon and you just said that you don't care the penguins are better, you dont like simon. |

Simon (whom I'm not a huge fan of) is starting to grow on me on that first line with Jake and Sid... all three guys have to be clicking together for a line to dominate like this one has been... but lines can be short-lived under HCMS. |

Sid has maybe lost 1/4 step, but everything else in his game is still elite. Pretty amazing to watch. - madmike71
When Dom was projecting contracts and age regression this summer, he said his model projects him to still worth his 8.7M cap hit even when he's 38. Even without the elite speed he used to have, he's just waking up for it by becoming the most complete player in the league. |

The thing with Simon is his hockey IQ which is above average. He's slicky and makes the best decisions most of the times. Good complimentary player on ANY line. |

I thought Bjorkvist looked solid in the preseason. Physically he can play here now. Question is the hands so glad to see him get one, but that will determine if he's just 4th line effort guy or more.
What's that like 5 or 6 goals for Noesen already? Is he locked into that AHL only deal for the year, or can he be offered a 2 way deal if they want to bring him up? Kind of hard to ignore him I he keeps getting goals game. |

Jacko has been surprisingly decent. He's not making dumb decisions with the puck so far and is being physical. |

I think Sullivan is playing out a fantastic strategy right now.
Keeping all of the D in rotation will keep them up to speed enough that it will help retain some trade value.
Running light on forwards will give them all some added ice time and a chance for some of the newer or younger players to earn their spot once everyone is healthy.
It's working. |

Björkvist has pretty bad hands lol Matt Martin's kind of hands. He's a hard worker so I could see him being a 4th liner in the future. |

I thought Lafferty made a big difference for that line. Maybe he's been nursing an injury, but McCann after the CBJ game has been invisible in my opinion.
And who doesn't think Hornqvist drives play? |
