People make it sound like Ghost is single handedly sinking the team D, but the cold hard fact is the team's only been scored on 1 time when he's been on the ice so far. Based on expected goals #'s, he's been helping effectively limit scoring chance quality too.

The puck gaffes and turnovers stick out in people's minds, but overall he's not the problem defensively. On the other hand, Braun has been peppered with goals and chances, Prov's been on the ice for a lot of GA and Sanheim's been shaky.

Trading for San Jose's # 6 dman, who could have seen that coming.

Per Ek Jamie Benn is in Play,
Ghot, Jake, #1 round pick for Jamie Benn and Cogliano?
edit : Maybe adding the first is too much?

- ClaudeFather

Unpopular opinion: Benn is worse than Jake

Dallas does that trade in a heartbeat. Know who had more points than Benn last year? Hayes

I know migraines well. mine came along with aura and were caused by a brain aneurysm which is different from Patrick's but they are no joke. I think sometimes people have a bad headache and they immediately call it a migraine. migraines aren't just bad headaches. I do hope the medication helps.
- nastyflyergirl

Mine are genetic. My mom suffers from them. I get them.

I explain my migraines this way. I have actual rational thoughts that maybe sticking an icepick in my temple will help alleviate some of the pain and pressure I feel.

I would consider them equal. Cap hit just doesnt do it for me and I dont want to just throw Ghost in there for the hell of it.

Your reasoning is that coaches play him so he must be good and you laugh at my reasoning?

Pretty sure bill and others have mentioned the fact that Myers can pass through waivers as a reason the team dropped him to Lehigh Valley

Also, fletcher made the decision to keep Hagg over Myers, not AV. AV can only play the players he has available so he plays Hagg

- bulet13

You didn't follow the logic. Again, if Haag is not good at his job. Why would they care if he was lost to waivers? Why wouldn't they keep Myers, the better player instead?

Are you trying to tell me that Vigneault had no input on which players made the team? Have you watched Behind the Glass?

It happens. There are players that dont succeed on big market teams. How many guys in the past have left a big market like Toronto or Philly and succeeded? We have seen many leave us and succeed elsewhere.

Luongo is an example of one. Was great in Florida, left for Vancouver and he died, went back to Florida and was great again until his age caught up to him. It has nothing to do with being weak mentally. Every fanbase has a whipping boy and as much as players pretend they ignore it, the cant.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

You're erroneously claiming that Luong had issues with fanbase pressure.

Maybe the offer was too much but he's one year removed from a 36 goal, 80 point season. He can shoot, is tough, would make a great Flyer. Possibly can be had for cheap. His cap hit is a bit much.

Exactly!

Hagg has been hated the most because he "cBlocked" Superstar Sanheim 2 years ago and now doing the same with Superstar Myers. Yet Ghost does a spin-o-rama and is considered "Elite".

Actually I am surprised Braun hasn't taken the AMac hate yet, well it is only 4 games into the season so there is time.

*shakes fist* Stupid defensive defensemen!

- Glak18

Braun won’t get the Macdonald hate cause that would mean saying the move chuckles made to upgrade the team wasn’t correct

Leight again to the comments.......Hmmm, unless there is a flu bug that the team is playing through, I think the 15-20 games I was going to give them to gel is too damned generous.

Going through the history of the Flyers, there are enough examples of coaches coming in and elevating the sum of the parts, as flawed as they may have been -like Mike Keenan, etc. Seasons starting out hot and while cooling a little, a level of consistency and quality...

My greatest fear is that even with the holes filled ( #2 center, some veteran D) that there is not enough speed and sniping ability, true talent. Too long for plays to develop, pucks like hot potatoes ( or however you want to spell it)...Maybe too many 200 ft players and not enough great on the attack/finishing...even sacrificing a little D from them...Arrggh, is this the same thing over and over ?
Or the players dont match the system again...

If I knew Patrick had a genetic predisposition to migraines with an established history, I would have traded the pick or not picked him. This was on Hexys watch and shame on them. Yeah, drafting a player with migraine history, brilliant.

Only a Jake for Benn swap would make sense to match cap hits and such but I'm still not convinced Benn is better

I'm not asking for Morin to enter? I have no idea how good morin is he hasn't played at all for like 2 years. I want myers
- bulet13

Well how is Hagg holding back Myers, if Morin is our 8th defender? What about the Justin Braunn trade that pushes Myers back in the depth chart?

I wouldnt. I would deal Voracek only for a package similar to Richards and Carter and the only way we do that is if we throw in the towel for basically Giroux's prime years

No thanks. Unless they blow our socks off with someone other than Benn, and take all of jake's salary. 15-20 games I give them before look for any big changes to be made (a call up or send down is fine if Myers and Farabee are playing well in the A for example and we can work it)

I don't get the issues with Hagg this season when there are bigger issues right now.

Prior to last night Coots, Jake, JVR, Hayes and Giroux were basically black holes on offense. You just can't have that.

This team also has 0 edge to it.. In before "they don't need to fight blah blah blah" that isn't playing with an edge to me. Look at the sequence where TK gets hit from behind then Giroux gets hit and no one really did much.

Factor that in with an off night for Hart even though they controlled periods of the game and you get what happened.

Will be interested to see how they do with a norm schedule going forward.

You are right on all points. We will have to see as the young players begin to break into the lineup or there is a shakeup trade. As I stated before, this is not a bad team, it is a mediocre team. I can't see them being a very good team until the core changes
