The problem w/ Hagg is that basically plays like a pilon. Sits in one area (see the big blue dot next left of the net) while a shooting gallery ensues around him. Notice how ineffective he's been at actually defending the slot, tops of the circles and the net front (red stuff). You'd expect a SAH crease clearer to protect the house better, but Hagg is way too conservative, doesn't challenge far enough up the ice, and doesn't shut down passing lanes aggressively enough.
In turn, it impacts his ability to transition, since he's defending reactively and he's retrieving the puck and trying to outlet from so deep in his own zone.
Do want to say that I think he's capable of being a better player than this. |

benn makes a little too much for it to be a 1 for 1 swap. the other players i would be interested in all make too much as well. Someone mentioned jake and ghost for benn and cogliano. he's a good player, but with jake having less money and less years i would want klingberg. don't think they would do it. |

Well If Haag was the only Flyer on the ice, that data might be relevant.

This model already accounts for teammate and opposition effects, as the creator has posted many times on twitter
Hence the chart being called "isolated inpact" |

Stat heads have been fraudulently claiming that they can isolate one player for years. They cant.

Why am I supposed to trust you over them? Where is your proof that they cant. Do you have a PhD in stats like many of these guys do?
This is very classic you. Some evidence disproves what you say. You dismiss their evidence without any of your own. Please explain how it is impossible to isolate one player like you claim |

Judging by how he can't tell the difference between scoring chances and shots in a table, I'd say you're better off not trusting him.

Did the Flyers know this before the draft? - PLindbergh31
I think they did. Dismissed it obviously. Hoping for Joe Thorton, but now they have Michael Neuvirth.

If they knew before the draft it wouldn't have taken this long for them to diagnose it this year so the OP (not you) is just making revisionist history - bulet13
Not revisionist history, I am asking a question. And if they did not know shame on them for not digging deep enough if theres a clear family history including him. I am not expecting a full DNA workup to see if he will father children with 2 heads and Taysachs and a seafood allergy, but #2 overall in the draft is a rare opportunity.
Not digging deep is an indictment of Hexy and the staff, Its paper pushing not nights scouting

If I was asking you to trust me over the stat heads, you might have a point. I have not asked you to do that. Follow my posts previously. It's not hard. I've been asking you to trust the coaching staff and the GM over the stat heads.
If need be, I'll explain to you what they do compared to the stat heads. You're right, it is classic me.

Doesn't take an authority. You still haven't effectively answered my previous questions. Not every source out there is credible. |
