Thanks. It's a bit odd, but there could be many things going on to justify it.

At the start of the broadcast they said that Ullmark got a shutout against Anaheim last year so I basically chalked it up to they looked at the matchup and thought it would be better.

This is our first back to back today. Yes he should get a get a start in a back to back but Huton has a great performance and then wham on the bench the next game.

Maybe they wanted Hutton for the more difficult of the two games. The second of a back to back is ALWAYS the more difficult game if the other team had the previous night off no matter who it is against (I'm sure there are stats to prove this). Starting Ullmark last night didn't bother me one bit and hindsight is always 20/20.

Its perfectly ok for you to think its a good call to not got with the hot hand
lets just give everyone participation medals

- hubie

Hot hand? Hutton had to make 4-5 legitimate saves Monday afternoon. Which is nothing...he said so himself. We could have won on Monday with Lalime.

Could be that simple. There's a lot of innocent explanations that make perfect sense.

Ouch. I watched the game through Buffalo having a 2-1 lead. I guess I stopped watching at a good time.

The only solution is to put Sobotka on PP1 and take Olofsson off

Why cant a defenseman take a faceoff?

I mean I know they can legally, but why dont they? I'm just thinking in the defensive zone, it's not a disadvantage to have a dman in that position even if he loses it.

I bet if they auditioned all 6 of the d men, at least one of them would be good at it.

Ullmark isn't the reason we lost the game last night, could he have been better, sure, he made some nice saves last night too, team defense was horrible last night, he was fantastic his last start. Way to many turnovers. We played soft, need to stop blaming the goaltender, and blame the team

Interesting concept, but with the speed of the game a lost draw could easily turn into a mismatch with players not being set in a position to succeed. Ex. Mitts trying to defend a Getzlaf I front of the net.

I'm just thinking, we've all seen the play where there's a faceoff to the left of the goalie, and the RD comes up and stands next to the RW at the faceoff, so the D do come up to the line.

Anyway, the D zone is probably too radical of an idea to implement, but let's just say Miller is good at faceoffs (I truly believe it's just sort of a random skill that some guys are good at.) I think they could try that on the PP in the o zone

I just like seeing fun ideas in hockey. If I had my way, Guhle would have played left wing last year, Dahlin would be taking the odd shift at center, and Miller would be taking faceoffs

The team was 5-0-1 going into last night. Ullmark had considerably more shots per game in his two starts. What you meant to say was that the team has been playing a more solid game in from of Hutton to this point.

for the most part, when the team plays good, the goalie plays good

if the d plays like crap, the goalie will look blah as well, except for those rare occasions where the goalie steals a point or 2

I think I read (red) somewhere the other day, the average shot allowed by the sabres on their goalie was further then any other team from their net minder

this was not the case last night, nor the exception to the rule on goalies

I think scandella and joker were fine, the other 4 d men all had brutal games in our end

hopefully it will rebound tonight

I am curious on Dahlin

does he go back to top PP
does he get a night in the presser and we see gilmore?

I want to see how the whole team responds tonight, and wouldn't mind seeing Lazar in for ERod, brings a little more size.

I would not mind seeing him there for a few shifts, esp when he is only getting 17 or so minutes on D
