Better than "Rah, rah rah!" "Benning does no wrong" & "This team is flawless".
But you keep blindly cheering away, leg-humper.

I did not know that. Seen the gif before but didn't know about the direct parody. Thought it was a creepy coincidence.

i'd embed but someone might get offended.

I think Edler needs to come off the PP, I took a large swig of wine for every drop pass Edler did on the PP, went through a whole bottle of the 5 on 3 alone, and the hitting the shin pads is reason enough to replace him.
- Makita

Hate to say it but it might be Horvat that needs to come off PP1 for a spell. Would like to try Hughes-Edler-Boeser-Petey-Miller on PP1.

no, the team wouldn't be as good.

which brings to another point of disagreement with the Benning regime since its beginning: almost all the moves they've done have been to make the team better in the moment i.e. the season they're playing or the upcoming season if it was an off-season move.

that trend has continued into this summer. has the team improved? yes but it's been on the strength of his drafting. as those players get better, the complementary players will also look better but it doesn't mean that it's best for the medium to long term.

my fear is that the team turns into a bubble team for 3-5 years and then has to rebuild again.

I agree with the FA signings his first couple years, but this past year is a bit different IMO. The players he brought in carry more than the ones in the past – Myers and Millers more so – and they're a big part of the reason this team is doing well right now. I think Petey and Hughes have sped up their plans for being competitive.

And as for the previous years, it's a tough balance between tanking and providing structure for the youth. Coming into a Sedin-led team was tough, and in hindsight should have started the rebuild then, but oh well. I don't blame him too much for bringing in guys to keep a somewhat winning culture, otherwise you end up like the Oilers. I definitely get the mixed messages and whatnot from years past, however.

Green is still learning. If the final outcome is there all good but there will be growing pains along the way.
- LordHumungous

I'd rather have a coach who is prepared and doesn't need time to learn his craft in the NHL. If he still needs to learn then he wasn't ready to coach in the NHL in the first place. However, it's super cute watching you make excuses for your little, learning on the fly GM & coach.

But they haven't been any better than the Oilers for the past 4 or 5 seasons while they sat in the standings cellar year after year.

lol well I was never a massive Green fan but I did think his NHL experience as a player would help...and I think it is. He's learning along with many of the other rookies on the team. See where it goes.

#patienceyoungpadawan

As far as the GM goes yes mistakes are made...but that's life. We finally have a core to build around and it wasn't Gillis that did it lol. like a said a few years back in a few seasons time many on here are gonna Owe Benning a glorified apology when this club is competing and contending. Yourself included...regardless of his blunders.

That could work, as long as Miller takes the draws. They spend too much time trying to enter the zone after losing the draw and having the puck cleared. It takes up 3/4 of the first units shift.

Very good stuff.

I really wish UYI 1-2 were just one album however. if you take the 5 best tracks from each album IMO you have an EPIC release like Appetite for Destruction. UYI 1-2 never really live up to their debut release billing. But still very good tracks.

oh for sure. most double albums suffer from the same bloat. and i know that strictly speaking 1&2 weren't a "double album."

it would have been better if the bloat stayed on the albums rather than axl though.

Why is no one mentioning that we are only one point behind the Leaves with two games in hand.

Where is STumbleLeaf when you need him.

Only one I take exception with, do we think Myers will still be earning his 6 mil 4 years from now?

Sure it looks fine now while he's playing 1st pairing minutes, but a couple years down the road...

Giordano is 36 and he wasn't good until 30.

I'm not talking about the specifics of the standings those years, it's about the mentality of the room. Look at the comments Hall made after he left Edmonton, or ROR after Buffalo. Losing for 5, 6, 7 years wears on you, especially if you're supposed to be good. That's something that is hard to change in one off season... so my point is, it's a fine line between bottoming out and destroying the will of players, and signing players who are just propping up the team marginally.
