I thought the team played a really good road game. For me it was as good as could be expected.

Nice start to the year with two one goal wins on 6 games. Last year we had the league highest , 26 losses by one goal.

Having a stronger d should get us more wins in tight games.

More wins and less injuries. I noticed in the last two games we don't spend extended amounts of time in our own end now. The D is quick to transition the play.

I agree, Tanev looks like an all star with hughes, those 2 sure work well together so far.

Hughes is amazing. Looks like we might have our third in a row Calder candidate . Tanev is playing for his extension. If I was a free agent I wouldn't mind playing beside Hughes for the next two years or so.

If we can trade Demko for a top 10 pick that turns into another Bo Horvat that would be pretty sweet

EP hasn’t looked too good this season (compare to last season), it amazes me that he’s still a PPG player even on his not so good games..

Well worth the 1st, even lottery!

No no.... Let's not get ahead of ourselves...

Miller is good... True but JB didn't need to give up the first.

Did JB draft Demko?

He does a good job drafting, just not with trades and signings.

Tanev should go at the deadline after Hughes builds him up for a 1st to a team desperate to make it into the playoffs. Same with JV. Horvat calling him out on his snack eating.

Been a while since they dressed 3 good pairings. Makes this team very hard to play against. Nice heavy bottom 9 as well.

Stetcher is getting his minutes trimmed down. Anyone have a take on that?

- boonerbuck

Ya, he is the 6th defenseman, so he is being played accordingly.

I don't really buy that.

No doubt his first few years were a gong show but look what he walked into. He had all aging players and no prospects. He had to gamble on a few players like Vey and Chaput and even Gudbrandson to try to find 26 year old players .

When he started to fill the void with some prospects the team became less desperate to make iffy signings. His last few trades seem to be okay. Leivo Pearson and Miller.

His contracts signings this year and last seem to be working out okay now.

He is a decent Dman and if he is your 6 th best Dman well I think that is a good thing. He is expendable and can be used as trade bait as the team gets better.

Like many of us, he is upset about giving up a 1st round draft pick. So far, Miller has looked like the player that I remember from his Ranger days, which is worth the 2 picks they gave up to acquire him, although, I never like giving up 1st round picks.

Same.

I knew Canucks would give up a first but I was expecting a flashier name. That is on me seeing I didn't know a lot about Miller. I am beginning to like him though.

Skilled, some speed physical when needed, nothing wrong with players like that.
Benning signed or traded for 4 players, this off-season, that actually have a spine, as do the 3 signings from the last off-season.
This pushback allows this team to at least compete with the bigger stronger teams.

JTM is a top 6 forward, there are no guarantee's the pick we traded will ever play in the NHL. This was a great trade.

I only caught the last 5 minutes of the 2nd, until Leivo scored the shootout winner, but, on some other sites, they are calling for Leivo to be scratched and Goldobin and Baertschi to be inserted.
From the part I watched Leivo played well, did I miss something?
