I only caught the last 5 minutes of the 2nd, until Leivo scored the shootout winner, but, on some other sites, they are calling for Leivo to be scratched and Goldobin and Baertschi to be inserted.
From the part I watched Leivo played well, did I miss something? - Reubenkincade
I was not impressed with Pearson, he missed so many opportunities. |

I don't know if you guys follow this guy @DanielGScouting on Twitter but he gives some good reports on our prospects. He makes some good videos of the players.
He is a guy that posts the good things about prospects only, so it is a bit slanted, but you get to see the upside of the players. |

EP hasn’t looked too good this season (compare to last season), it amazes me that he’s still a PPG player even on his not so good games.. - pker2theend
He'll come around. He's fighting it a bit out there you can see but he's too highly skilled. Lots of pressure this year to succeed and teams are keying on him heavily. He'll power through it.

Ah yes, the impressive armchair GM resume every stable genius here has. Forgot how much that translates into the actual everyday running of a team. |

Glad to see the “W” last night, after STL went up 3-1 i was hoping for a push back.
Demko deserves to start in Jersey, Markstrom in NY then figure it out from there. |

If we can trade Demko for a top 10 pick that turns into another Bo Horvat that would be pretty sweet - Nucker101
Then we'll need to sign a new starter... I heard Eddie Lack is available |

I don't really buy that.
No doubt his first few years were a gong show but look what he walked into. He had all aging players and no prospects. He had to gamble on a few players like Vey and Chaput and even Gudbrandson to try to find 26 year old players .
When he started to fill the void with some prospects the team became less desperate to make iffy signings. His last few trades seem to be okay. Leivo Pearson and Miller.
His contracts signings this year and last seem to be working out okay now. - VANTEL
You know what. I change my mind. I think your analysis makes sense. |

It's all fine as long as the other guys keep scoring. If the secondary scoring dries up and Petey is still slow going it'll become more of a problem. I think he'll figure it out before it does though. |

Not true. We just don’t ignore obvious issues with how the team is managed on and off ice.
Last night is a perfect example. It was a win but when down a goal, and on a power play, the coaching staff failed to recognize it was a 5 on 3. Instead, they set up a play for a 5 on 4. They scored a greasy goal but it should have been easier.
Would really like to see the Canuck PP look like a NHL run power play. |

So absolutely zero constructive criticism, got it.
By the way, the guy who constantly goes on & on about percieved 'whining' really sounds like the biggest whiner on theses boards. |

I have no problems with Benning, not to big of a fan of Green. I don’t like how he has a team prepared to start a game, and I would also question his in game strategies, but I can’t criticize the final outcome which is why he still gets the benefit of doubt....with me. |

I agree – not sure how much say Green has in the PP, but man it needs some different looks. Zero urgency down a goal with a 5 on 3. Some of that is on the players, some on the staff, some on Mr. Alex Shin-Pads Edler. Green doesn't seem to strategize too much in-game, but overall they've been playing much tougher and tighter this year, so on that the team is better to date. |

I’m not saying those two are useless. I just think they not great at the position they are given and the responsibilities that come with it. |

“It wasn’t pretty, that’s for sure,” Horvat said of the critical power play. “At first we didn’t even know it was a five-on-three. We just thought there was (one) penalty. It was kind of out of sorts from there, but we found a way to get it done.”
From a coaching evaluation perspective, Horvat’s comments are a bit frustrating. |

I think Edler needs to come off the PP, I took a large swig of wine for every drop pass Edler did on the PP, went through a whole bottle of the 5 on 3 alone, and the hitting the shin pads is reason enough to replace him. |

I don't like Benning for the position because I don't believe that he has the ability to carry the team beyond a re-build mode. He's a good drafter and has the right mindset to put together the right amateur scouting department. Beyond that, I don't like the way he manages the cap and I'm not sure he has the ability to bring in the right players to take this team to contender level. It is my opinion that he will make this team a bubble team but not much beyond.
I acknowledge that my last two sentences will be deemed controversial. While people will point to this summer's signings and say that he's improved, I would be cautious. I still think he overpaid. Overpayment doesn't matter until it does. I understand that contracts will come off the cap in the next couple of seasons but that's when the real heavy lifting has to take place.
If the team under Benning has been a cap ceiling team while they "rebuilt," I have little confidence that he can manage a cap as a playoff team let alone as a contender.
This is my opinion and it's been well documented. I'm prepared to be wrong and I write this out so mini-van can put it in his book but I'd like Benning fired. |

Ya, he hasn't looked all that great out there. No one has though, aside from Miller on the first unit. Petey isn't taking shots and is trying to force things, Boeser takes way too long to load it up, and Edler is Edler. |
