Marner hasn’t played centre since before junior. Why does everyone always think he’s a center?? - Trevrrrgavo
He understands the position. I would give him a look. Can't be any worse than Nylander. Or don't. Just saying if they want to take a look take it. |

JVR took a faceoff in the USHL and Burke declared him a centre. Why not? - AdamFrench
Oh my good God i forgot about that. What a period of hockey that was. Or did it last the whole game? I forget. The only thing i remember was being safe in the knowledge JVR was no centre |

If he learns how to win FOs at 50%, why not?
It's not out of his capabilities for 3 weeks.
If Nylander and Kadri could be C, Marner can be a C. |

Just spit balling here but what about Hjalmarsson?
He's a steady RHD who is out for 3 months. Yeah, he's signed next year at 5 AAV but that might work both now and next year. Probably cheaper than any other top-four RHD they would bring in as a UFA. - JohnFergusonJr
Just spit balling here but I think Hjarmasonn is done with big hockey markets, I remember reading he had all the big markets on his no trade list including the Leafs when he was traded to Arizona.
Regardless, it’s worth waiting to see Dermott back in action. We need to see how he progresses up until the deadline...if he can play on the RS with Rielly and do it well? Then you evaluate what kind/level of D you need to add. |

Yuck.
It’ll likely be Spezza.
Matthews/Nylander are great together, keep them together.

I do as well... but are you ready for his contract demands if he starts scoring at a crazy rate?
It would be like the reaction if magically Marincin turned into a good defenseman...
none of us would know what to do.

The Goat is what he is
He’s not skilled but he did improve his skating which makes him a perfect 4th line guy.
It would just be funny to see him with Marner. |

here's the thing, getting Nylander in the middle of ice solves too problems, 1) prepares Matthews eventually not playing with Nylander 2) Nylander doesn't have to pretend he actually is going to go in the corners.
win-win

Matthews is better with Nylander.
I want my top player being the most dangerous he can be, and that is with Nylander. Splitting them up would be silly.

Tavares broke his finger from a shot from Rielly.
Can't they use some kind of lightweight carbon fiber to put in the gloves? Gloves are half the size they use to be, the least they can do is make them strong enough in the areas they still cover, especially with players slashing and shots coming harder than ever.
Seems kind of stupid that a shot hit a piece of protective equipment and it didn't actually protect from an injury. |

His hand would’ve exploded if it weren’t for the gloves. |

gallagher has special gloves due to his multiple broken fingers, i believe a little less flexibility, but far more protection. i think they used carbon fiber |

Yeah but he still got hurt. I think we'd both prefer no injury at all.
I think we all can say we universally hate injuries, especially to the best players. And if you watch the shot that hurt him, to me, it's the type of injury that is preventable if they made the equipment better with some innovation. |

That's what worries me about a player like Marner killing penalties. Some bullpoop shot from the point and bang, he's done for weeks and weeks. |

totally... imagine sitting in front of weber shots... i think some guys, already who are net present, have special gloves, like the skate protector for guys who block lots of shots.
its so sad, injuries suck ass... and your worrying about it, like me, are reasons why we dont get NHLers at the olympics or other tourneys... man, what a team Canada would have with the players weve got today. Crosby might be 2nd or 3rd line c with the talent thats there. |
