From what I've read on him, Gravel is really good at tracking the puck and has worked on his movement post to post given his size (6'3" 220 lbs). His agility and quickness need to ramp up so he's not easy to beat on rebounds if the other team can get him moving around in his crease. - AEL_Fox
Gravel looked really good against Val D’Or last weekend. I just read that he and Dach were both selected to represent Canada in the Canada/Russia tournament - so his game appears to be trending in the right direction. |

That’s cool you got to see Gravel play live at Halifax recently. Always nice to see live game action as you get to observe a lot more than what the camera shows.
Val d’Or also sounds like a place in Star Wars. Maybe it’s near Endor. Hopefully not near Naboo. |

Drake is the last person that deserves a demotion. Shaw can go to the 4th line or the press box until he learns how to stay out of the box. - Ogilthorpe2
He does get his fair share of penalties, but he also draws penalties, i also recall McDavid and Draisaitl wanting nothing to do with him.
He also does a lot of dirty work, i didn't like seeing AA go but would rather have hard working with an edge Shaw than the hard working passive aggressive AA. You need players who impose their will and opponents realize they don't care if they get called for a penalty. |

Honestly, the Halifax v Val D’Or game was far more entertaining than the Hogs v Wolves game I was at last night. More speed and passing, less stoppages in play.
And as others noted, the quality of the ice at the AllState arena wasn’t very good. One way to improve that is to not have a pre-game pyrotechnics show comparable to a friggin’ KISS concert circa 1977. My wife and I were sitting on the other side of center ice where the Wolves players skate out and we could feel the heat blast every time the flames went up. That and the flash/bang fireworks that left a haze over the ice that lasted throughout the 1st period. Warm, hazy air is not a good way to maintain a proper ice surface. I honestly didn’t feel the typical cool air that you get at an ice rink until around the 3rd period - and we were only 12 rows away from the ice. |

I wonder who sits? I would guess Nylander. JC will likely want to keep Smith and Carpenter for the PK. - DarthKane
that makes the most sense...nylander and perlini sharing a few brews

Yeah I think he should have finished his stint at Rockford. Milk the time allowance and then bring him up. - gifman
i think it has something to do with the hog schedule...they don't play again until friday...why have him sit around all week practicing with the hogs... |

100% agree with your last paragraph Rick!
Guys like myself and Vandy have been blackballed on this site for awhile because we have a different opinion , more old school than most. When ya see a good hard hit or a scrap.....
My take ....” that’s hockey baby!” - wonthecup10
Well WTC you and I know both know that hockey is so much a better game when there is some real hatred going on between teams and some individual players.
Hope nobody on here had to watch what was going on between Doughty and Tkachuk last night. Their moral hockey compasses would have gone tilt and they would be tweeting Bettman to do something about. Interestingly that goon Joe Pavelski says he knows those 2 guys hate each other and he wants to see them drop the mitts and go. Doughty's mother phoned her kid and told him to stop it before she has a heart attack.
I'm expecting a new rule on Monday from Bettman - next hooking penalty Shaw takes is a 5 game suspension because the Hawks fans are fed his unruly behavior.

I will never understand how you take a guy who played 12 games at (frank)ing North Carolina over Desean Watson. Watson led his team to a National Title Win, a National Title Loss, a 33-5 record, and career 157 QB rating.
Mahomes came out of nowhere but Watson was the slam dunk pick.
Egregious error in drafting. |

The line combinations are interesting . Glad to see Nylander still inn The lineup over Smith. A few reports had Smith with maintenance days ?
I hope this game is more entertaining than that awful bears game. Mitch and the coach both suck. I fault the coach for putting in a quarterback who is injured and then not pulling him.

I like Dach getting put with Kane - no better player on the Hawks to utilize Dach's strengths.
Let the Dach era begin.

Got some defense on that 2nd line now, interesting Strome playing wing |

The woeful Bears - Defense not getting turnovers - O-Line can't run block - Trubisky misses passes - and Nagy doesn't know how to call plays for a QB that can't throw accurately and an offense that has no running game. |

Your right. Defensively their good , offensively they are awful running and passing. I blame the coach for not calling more run plays and going with the backup over Mitch who just sucks. |

The defense isn't as good as it was last year that's for sure . But their still a championship defense it's just hard on them when the offense goes 3 and out and their out their that much.
They definitely miss Jordan Howard. I would really like to know what Nagy was thinking putting Mitch in when he is injured and it's not like Mitch was playing well when he wasn't injured |

I like Dach so far. Calm, wins face-offs, good passing, & good on the boards. 3 shifts, I'm willing to say he's best in his draft class |

I’d say that was a bad penalty by Shaw - but then I’d be the guy who doesn’t like old-school hockey. |

Toews couldn't just chip it out, had to stick handle. |
