Are there any teams that have the same PP QB for both units? Why not have Gustafsson be the QB for both PP units and sheltered 5-on-5 minutes?

I don’t know... but I’ve seen P.K. Subban and Erik Karlsson out there for pretty much the entire two minutes, especially during the playoffs.

Ryan Suter for Minnesota, heck he almost plays the whole game. Doughty for the Kings does.

An excerpt from a Ben Pope article in the Sun-Times about de Haan and Colliton:

De Haan needed to give Colliton daily updates on his health status, and Colliton needed to familiarize de Haan with his hybrid defensive scheme, which de Haan said differs substantially from the man-on-man system he ran with the Hurricanes. Despite one misstep, the regular communication was largely effective.

The whole article is linked below, but I thought this was noteworthy to a lot of the system discussion here.

What's the problem? People are discussing the best way to utilize him. It is no secret that he has issues defensively and is our best offensive D-man. Why not talk about the best ways to optimize his talents (since we can't have any direct effect on it).

Should be an interesting game tonight. I think Lehner will stand on his head and be the best player on the ice. But the Hawks will still lose 2-0 (one goal is an empty netter).

The best way to use Gus? Convert him to LW.

Play him in goal. Then at least he wouldn't be able to pinch at inopportune times.

He would probably get penalized for crossing the center line

I've always considered Suter to be a pretty good D-man. Looking at his numbers, they are kind of underwhelming. Never has broken 25 points in a season, and his advanced stats are middling. I'm fully aware that is a function of the team that he is on, but again, face value not overly impressive.

That can't be right , he has had to pass 25 point several times.

He’s averaged about a point every other game thru 15 seasons and 1080 games.

Watching Avs at Fla - I don’t know how far either team will go this season, but two very entertaining teams playing an entertaining game tonite.

Too bad no one in southern Florida cares, based on all of the empty seats I see....

The only thing worse than having Gus play 5 on 5 is a tired Gus play 5 on 5. It's a comfort to me that he's not out there when the PP expires, and i also think that's why you see 2 and 7 on the ice when it does, which is quite wise for a young head coach.

I've heard from a good source the defenseman told JC to go (frank) himself and go back to playing your xbox, while we decided how we are going to play defense😁

typical hawk 3 day lay off start...all jackets so far...lehner needs to hold the fort...always nice when the hawk goalie shows up waiting for his mates to arrive
