Hoffman is a rental

a second rd pick and prospect would get him if we had no cap issues

- homiedclown

Hoffman is of to a good start, proven commodity, think it would take more than that.

Hasek had a 70 save shutout in the playoffs against NJD in 94, was Huttons record for regular season only?

Has Skinner's productions dropped off though? He has 4 goals in 8 games. Him and Mojo have been doing a great job. That line could be lethal once Sobatka gets moved to his proper place in the lineup and a true top 6 winger gets added. Skinner is one of the best at creating his own chances by hounding pucks and going to the net. He's been doing everything he needs to help the team. Another legit threat on that line though would really put them over the top whether Tage can be that guy or it comes via moving a D man.

not much, esp if the prospect was a position they needed, say borgen or sameulson

but we do not have cap space for this trade

Ok, I knew this would stir the pot with some but working is nice, producing is another.

Maybe you're underestimating the pending UFA aspect in terms of the return?

As Homie said, the cap makes it a difficult trade.

1st period -

Sobotka has the puck just outside our blue line: Skinner is alone between the blue line and center ice. Sobotka doesn't even try to make the pass. There are going to be games that line is invisible because we have 2/3rds of a line

- jcragcrumple

I think there is a reason Sobotka is on that line, one being his D and physical play to cover for Skinners meh D play and to balance the line out. Unfortunately a team can't all be all-stars. Sobotka is a +3, is 1st or 2nd in hits so I think he is doing ok.

He's kind of like Vanek to me. Halfway through the game I'm like Oh, there's Skinner, forgot about him. He might get the occasional goal then go into hiding.

Mittlestadt made a really strong move to the net in the 3rd period of the Ducks game. Looked a little Eichel-esque. In a game that didn't have a lot of positives, it really jumped out at me.
- SoCalPucks

I remember that...he's getting there...was thrown into the fire as a No. 2 on a weak, poorly coached team last season...been solid this year and finally got rewarded for all the work he's put in

From memory, I believe Skinner works harder overall than Vanek did.

Just looked at the Sabres cap situation.

How isn’t Bogos cap hit of 5.1 not worth more cap space?

Maybe he needs to be on the LTIR?

I haven't been that blown away by Jeff Skinner yet this year. Some games I hardly if ever notice him. He doesn't help maintain the forecheck or cycle down low, he isn't a playmaker, is no stud defensively, Goallafson has stolen his jam on the PP. I like having as many talented players on the team as possible but I have a feeling this 9 mil is going to kick us in the butt well before 8 years.
- GilPerreault11

his four even-strength goals leads the team and he's working with a winger holding down the center spot on the second line and a fourth-line, defensive-type checking forward on the other wing...

I'm just saying, when you play Sobotka on the 2nd line, there are going to be games where Skinner is invisible

Dropped off id say no
i could also argue that his 4 goals on 5v5 is more important than someone with 6 pp goals

I could be, it would have to be a cap in cap out trade for both teams, both in the same boat Cap wise. Unless they are giving in this year and want a pick and decent prospect, why do it. Don't think they do it know, maybe by the trade deadline, unless a team over pays.

It's not like I don't like him but the Sabres had to pay him and keep him but each game, I don't turn it on and say I can't wait to watch Skinner, a guy who makes 1 million less than Eichel for the next 8 years but that is just me.

Picks + prospects out with Bogo as a celery dump. If a team is going rebuild (looking at you, Minnesota), having Bogo for the rest of the year is NBD

thats how i feel about the couple pending ufas. Now Sobotka with term is a horse of a different color.

But shedding the celery is important too.

Wow Mahomes could be finished this year, depending on the MRI results, Dislocated Knee Cap, could be a 2 to 4 week, or if he needs Surgery could end his season. MADDEN CURSE. If that does happen, do the Bill's go for it and make a trade or 2
