Nico Hischer is about to sign a 7 X 7.25 -7.5MM deal apparently.

Is that good or bad, I honestly don't know?

I know we are 6-1-1...but I'm ready to switch up the lines.

1. Olofsson is not doing anything 5v5, and he's taking big minutes to do nothing. He can score on the powerplay from the second line just as easily. I said before the season, give the kid 1st PP time but don't play him with Eichel. Time to reassemble the big line with skinner.

2. Oloffson, Johansson, and Vesey. Sobotka has been good but he can't play 2nd line.Vesey has done nothing so maybe this wakes him up.

3. Sheary Mittelstadt Okposo. Sheary and Mittelstadt have only been together for 4 games, and they were really good for two of them. I want to see more. Okposo works his butt off so he can add some grinding to an otherwise soft line

4. Sobotka Larsson Girgensons Honestly, the twins are playing well, and sobotka belongs here where his earnest combination of effort and incompetence will be appreciated rather than despised.

- matty12345

Oloffson hasn't scored 5X5 but I think he's looked really good. That line disappears sometimes 5x5 and he was the best of the 3 last night easily.

I'm with Matty on this one. He been mostly invisible and hasn't show that he can get his shot off at 5v5. Not with him on some other things, like 1 big line.

Disagree completely:
1. you're turning 2 scoring lines into 1. Skinner is scoring away from Jack so keep it that way. 2 formidable lines is alwasy better than 2.
2. You said Vesey has done nothign to deserve it but you're promoting him to line #2 = counterproductive.

Olofsson is going to draw top matchups because he is on Eichel's line. It's not ideal, but he's treading water 5 on 5, which is all anyone could realistically hope for this early in the season.

Dropped off id say no
i could also argue that his 4 goals on 5v5 is more important than someone with 6 pp goals

Actually, Eichel's line hasn't done much 5v5, so I'm kinda trying to get anything 5v5 going. I feel like Olofsson also has a better chance 5v5 on the second line where he's going to draw less tough matchups.

Vesey is a 5v5 goalscorer. I need him to start producing 5v5. He isn't going to do that with Mittelstadt and 13-14 minutes a night.

My entire thought process is the sabres have been feasting on the powerplay, but that will not last forever. A good PP plus one or two effective 5v5 lines is more sustainable.

Tage always had the raw skill, he just had the body of a 14 year old girl. If he puts the weight on and the commitment to playing better without the puck he’ll be a good player. He’s got something like 15 points in his last 13 AHL games and was their best player last year in the playoffs. He is an NHL player for sure just a question if he can continue to develop into a top 6 scoring forward of if he’s a middle 6 tweener who plays on PP2

Valid arguments - 8 games is probably too small of a sample size for Ralph to act on something like this though.

The middlestadt line has looked great the last 2 games and as their PT rightfully bumped up from 10 mins to 14. I wouldn’t mess that up right now

I said we'd make the playoffs if Mojo got 55-60 points, which is happening atm. Now get a real RW
- jcragcrumple

You said if erod got between 35-50 ,the Sabres would make the playoffs too.

I see sobatka is the every post bash of the month.

22 and 28 are safe after the last few years?

Why change anything, Mitts, Vesey and Sheary looked good together last night, see if they can build of it. True we need more 5vs5 scoring, it will come, we have 3 good lines and a 4th that is driving posession.

Cookies, you're out of your mind.

I said if Erod was playing the 2C role, he'd get 40 points

I said repeatedly if we get 55+ points from the 2C role, we'd make the playoffs

So you’d demote the guy playing well for a guy who’s been struggling? That doesn’t seem to make sense.
I get we want to get Vesey going but VS has played a good role on that line and has done it well, not sure he deserves a demotion at this point ?

It will be interesting in about a week when Montour is back, Pilut is playing tonight in Roch. If you go with the prospects coming up through the system, the Sabres are set up very nicely with there defense. They have a nice problem with the abundance of D right know, in a few years they are gonna have even a bigger one

Eraser,

You bought a erod Jersey, who does that?

Clearly erod is not going to get 40 points or play 2c

Keep bashing the guys that are 6-1-1 that makes sense

Yeah I get Botts reasoning in having an abundance of quality d:
1. Competition is always a good thing
2. If hit by injuries, the team would be fine (lucky so far)
3. He seems to be underwhelmed by the offers

You’re right though, as is, something has to give. I’m still in favor of trading Risto if you can get a valuable return and/or Scandella and/or McCabe. The other guys are untouchable in my opinion. I’m very impressed by how Miller has played
