I mentioned last blog I wouldn’t mind seeing him more on the wing this season
- WSCTeton17

I think both Blueger and Adam Johnson are better wingers than center. The Pens already have three or four of that type of player. Plus a couple pure wingers.

I'm not trying to write the new blog but last nights game showed the importance of having guys buzz the net and getting tip in goals. Even Letang's goal had both Crosby and Guentzel taking up two defenders in the crease while Letang stick handled around two guys flopping to the ice before beating Khudobin.

Simon made a good hustling play on that goal also. I can compliment a guy when I think it is warranted.

Tomorrows Blog:

-If it wasn't for Guddy and JJ we could have 2 Letangs, Imagine a Letang/Marino 3rd pairing - Fail GMJR, Fail

-Tanev didn't get on the scoresheet - Told you all he sucks and that contract is bad

-Hornqvist showed he is limited and all he does is score goals, just like Cris Carter and touchdowns

-Matt Murray gave us a league average night and that was good enough to win. If you get League Average goaltending you will win every game and cup

-McCann looked overwhelmed at 2C when he scored his goal, you could see it in his eyes. If we didn't have the terrible JJ/Guddy/Tanev contracts, we'd have McDavid at 2C right now

**Shows an Oleksiak/JJ graph that shows Oleksiak played better last night**

Thanks for Reading!

I said that about Tanev last game, we are going to have to get together and pick one or the other.

Also I am sure everyone noticed how JJ was the man out there in the last two minutes protecting a lead. Maybe he will get a shout out.

He likes beating dead horses. The JJ/Gaudbransson horse died and has since decomposed and he’s still there beating it. I went to the Avalanche game. You are 100% right. Sullivan has these young guys playing a system that is working. They shouldn’t have beaten the Avs but their 5 man defensive game has been on point during this winning streak. I hope the injured guys do see this and are willing to buy in like GMJR said.

Malkin has already shown me has the fire back. Rust, Galchenyuk and Bjugstad better buy into it as they are expendable. JR is already against the cap and if any of those three give him a reason to make a trade, he will make a trade.

Guaranteed JJ gets a shout-out... for not covering Hintz on the first goal. Might even get blamed on the second since he was on the ice, though I don't recall anything egregious.

This isn't a game I'd want to hold up a an example of JJ is fine.

Just want to show that the coaching staff has some confidence in JJ. My defense of him is just to show that he isn't the worst dman in the history of the game.

Having him play third pairing minutes and the occasional benching shows that the coaching staff doesn't care how much money you make. They only care about winning. And if you make the point that winning is the intent, then putting him out there protecting the lead gives credence to my objective.

Ryan Wilson, I have never seen so much negativity than what you present in most of your Penguins reporting and articles you write. If you are so opposed to the Pens organisation, may be you should write for another team. We, as Penguins fans want to read a blog that talks about the team, players and news and views about them presented in proper light and not negatively tinged, ALL the time.

If EK is right and Hoffman is being shopped. I wouldn't mind him playing on the Pens. He is a pretty good 2 way player and I could see him fitting in right away with this team

I am going to disagree with this post. RW doesn't oppose the Pens organization as much as he promotes analytics. His desire (IMHO) is to have a team that is run purely on metrics. Pittsburgh, or any other organization for that matter, isn't going to base all their decisions on analytics.

Yes fancy stats has a place in sports, but it should only be a part of that equation. Where most people are upset is that he doesn't see other view points. As a writer he needs to at least address these issues. Not just analytics good, defense bad.

This made me think. I'm not sure there is a better option for a second pair defending a lead late than JJ. That's not why Schultz is on the team and while they can't push offense, that pair has been effective on the PK. Still, if we commit to Marino who's going to keep making aggressive mistakes, I think we really need to upgrade that spot and find someone better suited to covering for them.

There were some good quotes from Letang last night when asked why he had the confidence to be so aggressive on that goal and he said it's because he knows Dumoulin is so good at reading those plays and backing him up. He then mentioned another aggressive attempt that didn't work but Dumoulin snuffed out.

It would be good to get that for the 3rd pair. Marino is a rookie playing an aggressive style that is going to leave his partner in some bad spots. I'm not confident in JJ covering for those.
