I would like to see Marino not shackled to JJ or Guds playing his off-side.

I would like to see Marino win a super bowl and we all now that isn’t happening.

7 game sample size into a rookie season? Pretty pathetic

Touché

Seriously though I think Marino shows a lot of positives to his game. The potential is there, but developing next to one of those two is helping his cause or his fancy stats.

Well his lack of production in college is also a red flag imo

Fun fact: Marino sucks.
- Feds91Stammer

Hahaha the thought actually crossed my mind last week when you werent around, and people were high praising him, that if you were around youd say he sucks.

You were hard on him in the summer. He's making some mistakes but he's doing things JJ and Guds never will so that sticks out. Even if his production never goes anywhere he's a pretty good skater, first passer and has a smart physical game. If he can clean up up his game a bit I'm all for him on bottom pairing...hell...I'm kinda all for it now given the other options haha.

Yea definitely, but as I stated before IF... IF we can move one of JJ/ Guds, Marino is playing at 1/4 the cap.

Definitely for him now especially at the cap hit. Problem is they gotta move Guds or JJ to make his low cap hit worth it. He also doesn't handle the puck like a live grenade

My expectations for him aren’t necessarily that of a high producing offensive defenseman. If he can just be a sound hockey player on the third pair then it’s a win.

Definitely better cap value sure. But idk if anything he’s shown says nhl player yet.

A sound 3rd pairing guy would score in college by default. That’s the point I’m making. Not saying he never will but it’s unlikely still imo he becomes a nhl regular.

And maybe when we have a better line up than a Riikola-Blandisi-Johnson line, although I thought that was his best game.

First, thanks for getting the reference.

Second, I never read it either and probably should.

Went to see Joker last night and they had a preview for Dr. Sleep. That’s either going to be really good or really bad.

- Rinosaur

I'm reading the book, presently. It is definitely a page turner. It's going to be hard to capture all the good stuff from the book, in a movie. However, the preview makes it look enticing!

I’m not saying he’s definitely is an NHL dman. I think he has the potential, but I’d like to see him at least not play with garbage to get a little more accurate idea.

Since we are talking about Marino not producing numbers and bad possession numbers... just wondering what everyone would think and what expected numbers would be of dumolin if you take letang and the top forward line away from him? He averages just under 20 points a year now.

On most college teams he wouldn't have Adam Fox and Reilly Walsh (3rd round pick) as RHD options in front of him. That's why I gave him a chance: he has tools, but he was stuck getting 3rd pair minutes and not being in offensive situations.

He's been better than I thought, though he definitely has areas to work on and I'm not convinced yet he shouldn't be getting big minutes in WBS

His biggest issues to me right now is he tries to do too much and gets caught out of position. While I think overall his positional play is solid, the game speed sometimes gets too much.

Overall I like that he can either skate the puck out of danger or make a good pass to get out of the zone without panic. He's even shown a couple of times the ability to skate the puck end to end without dumping/chasing and getting things set up.

Sounds like you have perfectly described a bottom pairing d man.

I think the potential is there for him to be an above average 3rd pairing dman which would be great. Maybe in the mold of a Trevor Van Riemsdyk.

He’s also never been the best d man on his team. Ever. Big red flag.
