I don't follow why that's a big red flag for a possible 3rd pairing guy. He can skate and pass. He shows some defensive conscious and is actually pretty good on PK and defending zone entries. Needs to learn what he can and can't get away with at this level.

No, it's more than that. I understand the JJ hate, but he is making plays most 3rd pairing guys don't make. It's ok to admit that when it happens.
