by comparison Rielly is 25 years makes $5 million was +24, scored 72 points

Rielly was only 5th in norris trophy voting. How many d-men were better than Doughty, that weren't in the fop five?

Babcock keeps it at 19/19 between Matthews and Tavares to keep things fair and fresh between the two but if one of them is hurt, the other should play 22/23.

I wonder if players realize just how bad the salary cap is screwing them over. Only in hockey do guys like Doughty, who win cups, win gold medals, end up marooned on a garbage team while they're still in their prime.

I actually like the lines, by the way.

Take an effective 3rd line, make it better with Marner, and play them more. Take your 1B line and make it a 1A line with ice-time alone.

Will be a good test for Matthews against Bergeron's line though.

Yea but you can say that about any superstar... the question isn't whether he's good, it's whether he's a good fit. Part of being a good fit is contract ($ and term) and age. Doughty is still a gud pl'r now, but may not be that good in a year or two, and that wouldn't justify his contract... not to mention we'd need to make some serious space for him...
