Really? If he keeps his stick on the ice to cover his five hole like every street goalie knows to do, it's a save.
He's been awful. - matty12345
Check please- I played goalie through college (though only a club team at UB as they had no div 1 hockey team then, he was very solid tonight and didn’t have much of a chance on any 3 goals. |

Did I hear Duff earlier in the game mention that they played a California team home-and-home their first year? That could be why. The first Sabres game ever was in Pittsburgh, and that's how they started this year too. Might be some schedule stuff going on. - Wetbandit1
Why yes, Bandit, they did, they played in Oakland against the Seals(pretty close to San Jose) and then played the next game at home against the Seals. 2/10/71 and 2/12/71 lost the first game 5-1 won the second 3-0.
Edit: And though their last game was at the Flyers, their last game this year is home to the Flyers. |

And we won despite a poor goaltender performance by Ullmark. Yawn. Ullmark was subpar vs. Ana. Tonight, as a goalie deflections either hit you, go wide or go in. Had a bit of bad luck but got the W |

Sometimes you outplay a team and lose
Sometimes you get outplayed and win
Usually when you play a consistent style and are being put in a position to succeed based upon what a coach sees and is willing to act on his intuitions is leadership.

I didn't notice him in the 3rd, but that's fine. He had a real good game.
Kroogs deserves a ton of credit for how he has this team playing. |

And Joker only got 15:10 ice time (to Risto’s 25:29) so Ralph is definitely protecting him.
3 stars in SJ were funny:
1. Johannson - fine choice, 1g 1a
2. Skinner - 1 g - okay he was pretty active
3. Reinhart, 0 points - what?? How about Girgensons with gwg or Joker with 2 primary assists or even Middelstadt? Doesn’t matter just weird.
Have to admit Lane looked good for SJ today. I thought Vesey looked really good again as did Okposo in only 7 minutes of playing time. |

Joker got very little PT in the 3rd maybe 3 or 4 minutes |

Ullmark is literally the walrus in goal from the Geico commercial. He's pretty much just in the way most of the time. Make him move side to side and he's awful. That being said, we won. Hopefully Ralph will give him an extra helping of sardines tonight. |

That is strange. Easy enough to pick a Shark, and appropriate for a close game.

They have to play the guy who erroneously iced the puck twice in the last minute and deflected a goal in his net. Gotta get him more ice time.
Not the guy who set up two goals |

I don't mind the icing. Sometimes you just have to get the puck out, and being too cute with it when you're under seige is something that's plagued them over the past few years.
Now, if they actually had a guy that could win a draw from Thornton, that could go a long way... |

Either way, Jokiharju has been better than both 19/55 the entire season, you can argue 6 has too. But for some reason they can’t play 25 minutes on a night they are rolling? |

I find it interesting that the same folks who stress the importance of puck possession often shove aside the importance of face-offs. |

I think 19 started the year very strong, but he's seemed to have tailed off a bit.
Idk, they're winning. 🤷♂️ Tough to pick apart coach's decisions at this time.
That being said, they do have things they need to clean up. |

Yeah I’m thrilled trust me, but IMO they can be even better if they start trusting other guys a little more |

The only argument that can be made is they’re getting easier matchups than Risto and McCabe. Still I thought Okposo and joker played very well and both got the least minutes of the forward group and d group |

I may be wrong, but I think it was Jack that lost 3 in a row there at the end. Thornton is great in the dot, but ffs, do something different, Jack. |

I think Larry lost one or two of those. Sobotka has been clutch in draws but wasn’t out there |
