If jacks line gets going 5 on 5 we’ll obviously be even better - turbo044
Someone said it earlier, but what a difference from last year when nobody except Jack's line scored at all. |

I find it interesting that the same folks who stress the importance of puck possession often shove aside the importance of face-offs. - PrinceChill
It is a bit counterintuitive at first. But the fact is there is just not much correlation between winning faceoffs and winning hockey games.
If you want to know actually why, it's because being 'elite' on faceoffs puts you at like 53%, which means even the best teams on faceoffs aren't much better than 50/50. And faceoffs don't occur on most shifts. So you are talking about possession off like less than 5 percent of what is already a fraction of the plays. And winning a faceoff doesn't guarantee you have possession for more than a few seconds of the shift anyway.
Of course, losing five in a row at the end of a game sucks, but that's just a bad sample. |

So you’re saying Gerbe still milks his mother?
Or 50 still thinks church basements during off hours are the solution to life?
Or Fitz believes he had a half decent idea since the early 80’s?
Or Beady pretends not to like Lockport?
Good W for the Sabres, Girgs was a weirdo in Burlington |

I'd take it a step further, sometimes winning a faceoff doesn't even result in possession.

They have to play the guy who erroneously iced the puck twice in the last minute and deflected a goal in his net. Gotta get him more ice time.
Not the guy who set up two goals - sbroads24
JFC
They're told to shoot at the empty net, have been for the last 5 years or so. And the puck hits Risto in the leg, and bounces in, so let's blame him. Are you for real? |

Yeah I’m thrilled trust me, but IMO they can be even better if they start trusting other guys a little more - sbroads24
So, you're thrilled, except for the usage of the guy you just so happen to hate? Got it. That makes perfect sense. |

hockeybuzz is supported by sweatshop sweater ads. it is also filled with posters who jerkoff in their cars. it is for teens, and super old, disproportionately horny old men. if it were a real place, it would be an outlet mall, food court sports bar. you can smell some of the posters here. smells like divorce and tonawanda. |

It’s crazy to think that the Sabres got Jokiharju for an under performing Nylander and Miller for a third.
Two good defensemen for essentially change.
I do have what JB sent correct, right? If that’s really what it was, I’m still kind of amazed. |

A bit of bad luck but I prefer the defense to play in front of their net in the d zone and the forwards cover the high spot. Hockey 101. Either way McCabe and Risto on the ice for all 3 shark goals and on the ice for none of the sabre goals - turbo044
Depends on how there running there PK, and stuff like that happens. Not Risto fault. It's a team sport, not always the D's fault. |

Ullmark is literally the walrus in goal from the Geico commercial. He's pretty much just in the way most of the time. Make him move side to side and he's awful. That being said, we won. Hopefully Ralph will give him an extra helping of sardines tonight. - The_Inkwell

I’m a super old, disproportionately horny old man, and I can understand why you might think that’s divorce you smell.

Ralph has been here for 5 years already? Wow time does fly. Scandella has a clear and open shot at the empty net with just under 2 mins left and instead lifted it safely into the SJ zone?? Maybe he didn’t get the message? |

You are close.
The Nylander for Jokiharju was one for one.
The Sabres got Colin Miller for the Blues 2nd round pick in 2021 and the Sabres 5th round pick in 2022. |

rochester thumped 7-1
tage the legend with the goal
they need to start johansson more in net, esp on back to backs |

|
Can we extend Ralph now? Just an extra year or 4....
Edit: while I wish Don a speedy recovery. I think Tails is getting some great experience coaching next to Ralph for the start. |

Without looking, Buffalo with Casey, MoJo and Eichel have to be in the high 30's / low 40's for FO-W.
When looking at all the FOs in a game I can see that winning a couple extra normally isn't a big deal. It is the special situation where they increase in importance... like on special teams and at the end of the game in your own end...those become much more important. |

something to ponder
in the 2017 and 2018 nhl draft, botts drafted 7 D men, due to murray not addressing the pipeline
this leaves us thin at legit prospects up front
assuming the ship has sailed on cj smith
we have asplund, tage, pekar, davidsson, weissbach as the only legit prospects up front , drafted before 2019
all the more reason why any trade should be for picks/prospects
esp if tage is ready |
