I remember the Ranger envy this summer ( not aimed at anyone in particular) and I look at their roster and their cap hit and I say EEEESSSHHHH.

6.5 mil burried this year in buyouts and waivers 7.5 next year and 2.5 the following two years.

Missed his chance yesterday, wasn't missing today. Fantastic period. NYR weren't going to be good this year.

Entertaining hockey the boys are playing. Crisp, logical passes.
The D looks very good. Zone exits are smart
Good forecheck and we have a centered to the net drive.

Kudos to the coaching staff for making these changes and to JB for the acquisition of Miller and signing Benn and Myers.

They have sold all their good players, can't acquire or develop them back as fast as most fans think you can. They might another year or two depending on if they win another lottery this season.

I think you’re misinterpreting where that envy was directed, imo. It was from what they were doing building a prospect pool. The great drafts they were having. That won’t equate to a competitive team immediately.

Signing Panarin and trading for Trouba is part and parcel of an original six team in a demanding market to be somewhat competitive.

I remember debating with some ( not you) about the quality of this years draft. I said there are decent players but I didn't think Hughes or Kakko are game changers. I compared them to Hischier.
