(frank)in Fitz. You never know when he's going pull off an extremely competent game. Tre saves the day |

The #1 center has 10 points in 9 games. Reinhart has 7 in 9. Olofsson has 8 in 9. I realize that many of these are powerplay points, but I'm not sure how much more "get going" they can do. - buffalofan19
But there’s no way the PP will continue to click at 40%
So there’s something to be said for wanting them to “get going” at even strength
This may sound crazy...
But the Girgs-Larsson-Okposo line actually stands out the most to me 5v5
They’ve been great for the most part |

Three guys that we all, or at least many of us, wanted to send to the surface of the sun. They are proving their worth, granted the salary for Okposo is unfortunate. |

The Fitz gives and he takes away. Almost pulls off the upset. Then throws the pick that becomes a 14 point swing.
I feel like I've seen that before. |

I was having this discussion pregame with friends
U never know if he’s gonna throw 4 picks,
or 4 tds
We need a #1 pass rusher imo in the worst way
Can’t keep giving QBs so much time to throw
Penalties hurt us yesterday too
And Allen will continue to have his struggles at times while still developing
But can he please stop OVERTHROWING our WRs that are open deep?!
He does this every single game
Very frustrating
At the end of the day...
Can’t be too upset with 5-1
But we’ve still got a lot of work to do |

Fitz should have never thrown at Tre. Wallace couldn't defend his throws, he should have kept throwing to his left. Thank God he did |

While I don't love any of those guys, I can say that if you go back to last year, Larsson and Girgensons basically weren't the problem. They played well as the 4th line, just didn't produce much offensively, but really, you're not looking for that to be the case most nights anyway. If they can keep the opponent out of their offensive zone then as a 4th line, you're pretty much doing what's asked. Chipping a goal in here or there is a bonus IMO. |

I’ve been saying for 2 years now that Larsson & Girgs weren’t as bad as most were saying
They needed to be used right...
Last year, they finally started doing this
And now we’ve been seeing it pay off
Of course Okposo’s Cap number is horrible
But he was a useful bottom6 player last year
And he’s fit in great on that line this year
Not the “doesn’t belong in the nhl” player that so many on here insisted him to be |

Great way to put it
And especially if the Mitts line can keep scoring,
then we’ll be in great shape
3 lines that can score
And a 4th that takes a crazy amount of defensive zone starts & “flips the ice” a high % of the time
They’ve been very good this year

Bills should trade for Chris Harris. He will lock down one side of the field. Can also line up in the slot and last time I checked that Julian Edelman guy is pretty good. |

Pretty crazy that we are sitting here saying that our biggest complaint 5v5 is hoping the Eichel line gets going.

I think my main issue with seeing them back was that while they weren't the problem, I didn't feel they were really part of the solution either.
Hoping to see them maintain it this year. They definitely tailed off last year, but at some point I think a lot of that had to do with the defense struggling. Upgrading that with Miller and Jokiharju seems to have helped a lot as well. |

Not a bad idea
I think a stud pass rusher would also help the DBs quite a bit too
I like Shaq Barrett from Tampa if they can’t re-sign him

Defensive game plan was very vanilla, if they blitzed fitz 3 times all game that's a lot. Fitz usually gets rid of the ball quickly so it's hard to get a rush on him, but we did have a couple chances and didn't wrap him up (hughes on the TD run).
Wallace looked bad cuz he was playing man most of the game vs. zone. He's not a good man coverage cornerback. They played man to compensate for Milano being out and putting more men in the box to stop the run (Milano's replacement #41 was not good).
Allen missed one opportunity to throw to brown (3rd down play where he threw to Knox incomplete), does struggle vs the blitz like most young qbs (is it his fault or the scheme's fault??) and those long throws are frustrating but he's fine. I can only imagine how some posters here would react if he was playing like Trubinksi, Mayfield or Mariotta.

Sabres are being outshot, giving up more scoring chances than they are getting, and giving up more High danger chances than they are getting. That's while getting 7 more powerplays than their opponents. So uhh, why are they good?
5th in the league in shooting percentage. Fifth in the league in save percentage. Both in my opinion are completely unsustainable.
The similarities between this years 9 game start and last years 10 game streak are startling. - matty12345
Your fancy stats don’t take into account the fact that they are normally leading the games in the third period and giving up shots and chances while trying to close out the game.
Again, all these advanced stats never account for context.
5th best save percentage? Maybe because the shots they give up aren’t dangerous. Maybe their defense is so good that teams result in trying to shoot more bad shots hoping to get lucky.
5th in shot percentage? Maybe because they are working for good scoring chances rather than firing everything at the net, which also accounts for less shots.
Honestly, you act like these stats are holy scripture and tell the whole story. It’s ridiculous. Watch the games!!! There’s been maybe 8 periods all season where we haven’t looked like the better team. |

I think the problem was that fans’ just couldn’t see past how bad they looked when they were previously playing higher up in the lineup
Girgs playing wing in the top6 never worked
Larsson slitting in for Jack when he got hurt was beyond ridiculous
It just goes to show that how you use particular players is of the utmost importance |

Another former Bronco. He’s always been fantastic. It was tough to get playing time in Denver behind Miller and D.Ware/Chubb though.

Allen still has a lot of developing to do
So he’s gonna continue to have ups & downs
I’m ok with that
And i don’t need him to complete every deep pass
He’s just leaving points on the table by missing these deep throws
And that’s part of the reason these crappy teams have been able to hang around against us,
instead of getting blown out
It’s eventually gonna come back to haunt us against the better teams |

I think it's a given that he finishes with the Sabres. if we are playoff bound. Maybe play the last 6 or 7 games of the regular season, once his junior team is eliminated |

Fancy stats? Shots on goal is the second most basic stat to...goals. The team gives up more chances than they get. I don't know how to make it any more simple than that. Is somehow pointing out that the team has weaknesses an offense to your rabid fandom?
They have given up more high danger scoring chances than they have created. So no, maybe it isn't your suggestions. Honestly your reading comprehension sucks. You just see stats and fly into an illogical frenzy.

Here's the facts. The Sabres got caved in playing Columbus. They were lucky to get a point.
They also got caved in playing LA, probably more-so because of the score and they sat back.
Their record is 7-1-1. They're outscoring and mostly outshooting opponents. They're also controlling the puck the majority of the game.
The eye tests show this, and the analytics above prove this.
I know you love the half empty approach, but this right here is the fact approach.
They're a significantly better team to start the year than they were during the 10. - TheSabresTaco

U really should go back & reread his post
It was dead on
That why you’ve gotta watch the games,
and not just look at the stats
If you did,
then you’d see the Sabres have been outplaying their opponents much more often than not |
