Really. Boston had Pastrnak missed the playoffs then added McAvoy, and Carlo and made the playoffs.
And who were all the young St louis players making contributions last year besides Dunn. Maybe Thomas who avg ice time was 13 mins.
The Jets are in good shape. We haven't seen Niku healthy yet and Heinola will be a year older. A little luck in the lottery and add a middle pairing d-man, the Jets should be back in the playoffs. - BWJumper
Niku is also about to become daddy any day, if he hasn’t already |

Really looking forward to the Little-Laine combo today. I know they haven't had much chemistry for the first 100 games playing together, but I got a good feeling about it now.

When he was playing Center for those few games, he was close to 70% in the face off dot. Just a stat that gets missed too often! - TheUltimateJet
Small sample size but certainly a great stat! I certainly believe that C is the most important position in the game, and if you don't have a mobile guy down the middle, with great possession skills, your toast. Ras certainly looks like the guy best suited for 2C on this squad. No offense to Lowry, but the guy is a bottom 6. Little has shown time and time again that he just isn't good enough in his own zone. So outside of any trades, he would be my top pick for 2C. I know Appleton is hurt, but when he comes back, the two seem to have great chemistry together. The sooner we get a 200' C with puckmoving skills in the middle, the sooner this boat turns around.
Anyway, to all my fellow degenerate gamblers out there, take the under 6.5 (pinnacle is paying 1.85). These outdoor games are novelty at best and the players struggle on these ice surfaces. This one is a no brainer so go earn yourselves some cases of beer! |

Haha the two worst possession players on the team. What is the worst that can happen. Feel sorry for the other winger on that trio. |

Lowry is not bottom 6, he is bottom 1. I can't wait till he retires as it looks like the Jets will not move on from him otherwise.

Some talk again on this thread of the Byfuglien situation. Makes we wonder about his agent Ben Hankinson and whether he would get paid this year on Buff's salary fo $8 MM. I mean he did negotiate the contract and usually agents get paid on a yearly percentage of the salary. However Buff chose not to play and collect, so does Hankinson get shut out as well despite already earning his worth from his work years earlier ? |

That was an awesome call. I wish I had time to place that bet. Crazy over-under for an outdoor game with wind and snow as a factor.

It was a major error on the bookmakers. I would have taken a U5 on that game. And it really should have been a 1-0 game, as that calgary goal was absolutely a high stick. Didn't affect my bet, so all is good. But Helle deserved the shutout. |

So Shaw is recalled from Moose. I doubt he would clear waivers if sent down again so I would think its bad news for Gustafsson sometime relatively soon. Shaw might be a good addition.
Tarasenko out five months ....Blues might win fewer games with him out of the lineup.
Buff has been skating on his own.

The most interesting piece of news on the weekend is that coach Maurice is in the last year of his contract. It’s amazing that it was kept so hush until Friedman mentioned it on national TV. Here’s hoping they don’t renew him. |

Shaw would clear. He’s done nothing at the NHL level, and is far too old to make the jump now. He’s also been AHL’d long enough that most teams won’t even remember him.
That, and he’s been really good for the Moose, so losing him to a 6 game tryout for another NHL team before he’s waived again isn’t appealing to me |

With Lowry suspended, won't the Jets have to recall another forward?
Seuss or Spacek? Luoto? Probably Seuss. |

Spaces has the highest ceiling, Luoto is the best player, and Suess is just bad Tanev. He’s also way older than the other 2. Naturally, it would be Suess to be recalled |

In fairness to the man, it’s basically been all little bits of bad news over and over again since the season started.
Hellebuyck is back in the saddle, Laine and Ehlers are popping off, and Gustafsson and Heinola are clearly ready for decently big roles.
That’s 100% of the good news, and it’s offset by Helle getting shelled constantly from everywhere literally all the time, Laine and Ehlers having to rotate Scheifele duty while Wheeler chews scenery, and the rookies being sat for AHLers. |

It would be great if Little moved to Lowry's line, and Ras got a chance at 2C. But that is highly unlikely given the Appleton injury, they likely wont be willing to lose another RW. |

Great news about Buff. If he can get the Cardio up too speed, I would love this:
Kuli Buff
Morrissey Pionk
Niku Poolman
Buealieu 7th D. I could see this D core being competent, leaving the only glaring issue being 2C |

If this ever actually happened, I would cream my pants. Mostly cause next year would have Heinola in Kulikov’s place, and that makes for a legitimately dangerous blueline.
The reality will be something like:
Morrissey-Kulikov
Beaulieu-Pionk
Bitetto-Poolman
Dahlstrom-Sbisa |

Interestingly Laine gets injured when he's told that he will playing with Little and Ehlers. Also of note, Laine is on pace to score a whopping 20.5 goals. He will get his one hot streak eventually where he will put up 15-16 goals to only be followed by a hiatus afterwards. |

It would be great just to trade away Lowry while he has value. |

Who cares who they call up. Gustafsson just got 3 minutes of ice time in a game, I didn't hear he had an injury. The Jets might as well hold a lottery, winner gets to join the Jets for a game and gets 6 shifts. |

Actually, the interesting thing here is Laine getting boarded by Sbisa.
Here’s a timeline of events I love:
-Sbisa signs with Anaheim over Winnipeg, choosing San Diego over the Jets because probably better partners there.
-Anaheim waives Sbisa
-Jets claim Sbisa
-Sbisa shows up for practice, promptly injures Laine
-Laine is hurt, reportedly very angry, and might miss tonight’s game
-Our opponent? Anaheim |

Ultimate, buddy... are you okay? You hate EVERY motherf*cker on this team right now. You’re starting to become what you know who thinks I am
Also, here. Check out how hard Lowry tilts the ice for us...
