I really appreciate moose updates like this, thank you!!!!

The Jets should reward players on the Moose that are having a good start to thr season instead of recycling the old, useless retreads they signed for what was supposed to be depth on the Moose not the Jets.

Laine is going to have a monster year.

He’s driving play, creating tons of chances, shooting from everywhere, skating hard, and usually leading the back check. Strong start, strong work ethic, and now we wait for the shot to settle down and the floodgates to open.
The most noticeable thing for me is that, unlike last year, the puck seems to be following him around. He’s constantly in the passing lanes when we don’t have possession, especially when the opposition is trying to leave their zone, and he’s visibly controlling play.
He seems to be, in every way, the player we expected when he was drafted.

Also, never thought I’d say this about Wheeler, but he’s the worst playmaker on his line, and really needs to get away from my Scheifele and Laine. He’s been so bad.

Just passing on some Buff gossip I heard from a friend but.....apparently (and no I wasn't there and it could all be hearsay) but apparently Big Buff was at confusion corner bar and grill on Thursday during the Isles game.

It is said he looks very big, and we know Buff is a big powerful man but they weren't implying height. They were implying girth.

This is nothing but gossip, can't substantiate it whether he was indeed there or was not but, just passing on some local gossip.

Laine has definitely upped his game with more consistent effort, no doubt. I particularly like the feed he gave Dahlstrom for the disallowed goal so he is showing his play making ability. The thing is the guy is still so young yet. Anyways, good on Laine.

The Laine shootout goal was a beauty. No deke, just the shot. Like a pitcher throwing a fastball down the middle, its a challenge to the batter, here comes the heater, hit it if you can! In Smiths case, Laine blew that one right on by him. Stop it if you can,.....lol

Laine has been excellent and it is his renewed effort that has returned him to being an NHL star. He has had a couple games that were reminiscent of last year - I am not ready to accept that he has proven himself to be consistent. Able - yes yes yes; consistent - it's early.

Does anyone out there know how much fortnite he has been playing? Through the bad stretch some estimated he was playing 12hrs a day. Any updates?

Consistency is key.

Also, not to be Danny Downer, but we have not really played any real top teams yet, unless you want to say that the Oilers are a top team!

What number really indicates Laine has improved?

i am not the numbers guy, I just see that he is skating more, hitting more, battling more (all relative to last year of course). His assists are up significantly.

I don't trust him to continue through the whole year like this until he has done it once and made it part of his M.O. Last year was so ugly after november... it's the old saying 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.' Mr. Laine fooled me once.

If there is one thing that has become more than obvious with this year Jets , it is the complete lack of a good PP quarterback on the right point. The Jets PP has been anemic without one. Definitely miss both Buff and Myers back there. I counted at least 7 times that the puck got by Pionk on the right boards during the PP. Pionk has not stopped anything at all from getting passed him....game after game. I like him as a player with this one exception. I'm not sure what the answer is here except to hope Buff comes back.....and soon.

There is also a guy called Sami Niku who put up 54 points with the Moose and won AHL defensemen of the year.

Niku is not even skating right now with his groin injury.

Well our goalie sure has been consistent since his first few games and preseason. Good enough that we should be winning more games.

What’s with Wheeler? Is he injured because he is frankly looking like he can’t handle the puck, step behind, turning over the puck and generally not himself?

All this is a nice way of saying he looks generally awful.

So what's the concensus here on Heinola?

My vote would be to send him back to Finland, come back next year stronger and ready to contribute even more. Needs more muscle which is natural for any 18-yr-old player.

I'm thinking if he stayed this year, would be more susceptible to injury, and really why waste a year of Entry Level?

Finland has my vote. His play has been good but not so much that it will cost the Jets a bunch of games by losing him.
*save the ELC year
*add some muscle
*have the confidence of a solid performance and good showing in the NHL
*most 18yo learn to manage better with home cooking not far away

Guess the muscle has started to arrive - Lucas Sbisa.

Either Heinola is back to Finland, Poolman is hurt worse than thought, or Buff retiring? Or, maybe they realize Bitetto is not the answer?

I'm sure you're right, but if he is better than a couple of waiver pickups (Sbisa, Dahlstrom) and a fringe nhler 29 year old Bitetto, then the Jets should keep him.

Also contract shouldn't play one part of the decision. Aside from Laine they have no big contracts on the horizon, and if the Jets had to they would just bridge Heinola for 2 years which takes them to the end of Little and Wheeler's contracts.

I couldn't take all the criticism I would get for trading away a guy like Adam Lowry.
