Niku is not even skating right now with his groin injury.

I like the Sbisa pickup. He was nearly 0.5ppg as a golden knight, and didn't get a fair shake in the isle. I am certain he will be an upgrade on Bitetto, and likely Dahlstrom.

Well our goalie sure has been consistent since his first few games and preseason. Good enough that we should be winning more games.

What’s with Wheeler? Is he injured because he is frankly looking like he can’t handle the puck, step behind, turning over the puck and generally not himself?

All this is a nice way of saying he looks generally awful.

- CharlieDog

Wheeler is in decline.

If only someone had been waving the red flag about this, since, last year. Before he got his extension.

If only.

I couldn't take all the criticism I would get for trading away a guy like Adam Lowry.

I'm sure you're right, but if he is better than a couple of waiver pickups (Sbisa, Dahlstrom) and a fringe nhler 29 year old Bitetto, then the Jets should keep him.

Also contract shouldn't play one part of the decision. Aside from Laine they have no big contracts on the horizon, and if the Jets had to they would just bridge Heinola for 2 years which takes them to the end of Little and Wheeler's contracts.

This season is turning into a joke rather quickly. Things on D were bad enough to start the season but are the Jets going to lose all their remaining D and D prospects to injury over the next month as well? Couple that with a wildly inconsistent and lax forward group and it seems like what slim chance the Jets had at making the playoffs is sadly over after the first 11 games of the season.

And you’d probably extend a Wheeler when he’s done

I agree with you 100% on wheelers decline but with Copp and Gustafson, if someone want to over pay for Lowry or he’s part of a package for a a better C or RD, I’m cool with it.

How about we do our best to convince Buff to come back after Christmas, make sure we keep him healthy then trade him to the Flyers at the deadline ( we can eat whatever salary needed and buff agrees to retire so no cap hit following year) and we take injury prone home town kid Patrick. Flyers make their run a few years earlier than planned with Buff. And ultimate gets his 2nd line center

Send Heinola and Gustafson back to Europe now before souring then on this team, we will need them more next year anyway.

Trade wheeler for Benn.....not jordie

NHL is a young mans sport now Ross. The Jets shouldn't be signing guys to long term contracts who are in their 30's.
It's why they should seriously be considering trading Scheifele in 4 years.

Doughty isn’t good anymore. With that cap hit, I wouldn’t risk Connor straight across

Lowry is worth more on the ice than on the trade market, and it’s probably not close. Even the “6’5 with an NHL dad” factor can’t outweigh the Selke level defence and insane possession driving Lowry brings

Glad you're back Rexpoo, but show me a number outside of his one great year 2017-18 that he is what you say he is.

Wheeler looked pretty good to start the season.....and then he got a new linemate. Yeah, you know the one that nobody can play with.

You mean the one putting up better numbers, looking stronger on the puck, and having less turnovers than wheeler? That one?

Ya he should be ashamed for making his captain look old, slow and out to lunch. Damm him

Wheeler has had a couple of bad games. It's hard to blame it on anyone but himself for the type of mistakes he has been making. Bad passes, losing the puck, etc. However , the guy didn't get 91 points two years in a row and then suddenly take a nosedive into some hard decline. He's an elite player and will remain so for at least another year or two ( maybe more). I have no doubt it just a short term early-season slump. It will pass.

The Jets problems are not really 5 vs 5. I see the problems as mostly special teams. We lost four very good special team players in Myers, Buff, Tanev, and Trouba, the last two being only PK. If our PP and PK were working the Jets would have won several of those close games and we would be 7-4 instead of 5 -6. The unfortunate problem is that this is not an easily solvable problem. The three guys we all lost are excelling on their new teams ( well maybe not Trouba). Where do you find replacements for these multi-use guys ? Every team wants that type of player and they pay up to get them.

I did say that losing Tanev and Myers would create a big hole in the Jets lineup. Now we are all seeing it first-hand. The loss of these guys is really hurting us.

Here is a good read .....

Jets should have to much talent to have only 18 goals at 5v5 good for only 13th in the NHL despite playing the most games.
But you are right special teams is what is costing the Jets the most this season.

Lowry is the most overrated Jet on the roster. He proved he can't do anything without Good wingers. He gets elevated constantly by his line mates.

By the way how many points does he have so far this season?

Reel it in man. We are just starting the season. I consider the Jets top 6 forwards to be elite, and they are working with a 13M dollar D roster every night (with Kuli occupying over 4.3M of that!!!) I honestly feel that this D core will be good. I expect Buff to return, leaving Niku as the major wild-card.

Kuli Buff
Morrissey Pionk
Niku Poolman

Heinola has looked very good, and deserving of a roster spot, but Niku has done all he can in the AHL, and adding Sbisa as a 7D will allow us to save one of those precious years on his entry level contract. Overall, I feel if we had a true 2C that helped defensively (Little does not!), our D core will be ok. Goaltending can only go up from here and our forward core is among the best.

Rexy I take your observation as a major plus!!!! You believe that Little and Perrault are elite players deserving of big money and more TOI. That says it all. You don't like Connor or Wheeler (who is apparently in decline despite back to back 91 point seasons), and Ehlers is absolutely making you eat your words. Keep trolling all the true Jets fans. I am pretty sure you are an incognito Preds fan.

Are you drunk? I’ve literally been saying Little shouldn’t be the 2C, is currently overpaid, and needs to be the Seattle puck for like 2 years.

As for Perreault, I mean... yeah. He’s an elite play driver. Put him with Laine.

Look at his season so far. Point totals not withstanding, he’s been utterly dominant. And that’s dragging two boat anchors around for like 9 games
