A couple crap calls imo, Spezza - Goat - Kerfoot and we got nothing for some very similar plays - Garnie
One of those - I think Goat's - the guy was falling on his own, but the stick was there, so whatever. Spezza's was just lazy play. I don't understand how Kerfoot's is a penalty. Was he expected to sense the player skating towards him while he was down on all fours, and barrel roll out of the way?
I agree though that similar plays were ignored.
What I do find more curious is that of late interference is being a little more ignored. Not just Chara who is the human manifestation of interference, but in a lot of other plays. Some interference is minor, and that's fine - you expect picks or whatever - but some is more obvious and the refs are just ignoring it. But touch a guy's glove with your stick, and that's a penalty.
Maybe that's a good thing? The Leafs have not shown a lot of resilience at fighting through interfering teams. If they want to be successful, they'll need to play through that. |

I've always been very supportive of Marner.
Rielly.
Babcock.
Zaitsev and Marincin (contrary to most others on here).
Kerfoot (just saying he would be better at wing imo)
Mikheyev
Hyman
Matthews (in general)
Korshkov
Freddy the Goat (unlike most others in here who were very negative about him before start of season)
and a few other things and players.
In general i don't like Dubas' decisions (or lack of decisions) - that's true.

The second goal was 100% Matthews' fault. He didn't want to check the guy.
The moneyboys were lazy all night. That's why we lost.
And the refereeing was franking atrocious. - Atomic Wedgie
Exactly.
Both things are way too consistently true.
The ridiculous contracts apparently have not motivated the kids to grow up.
At some point, you would think the league would have to step back and question whether or not it makes sense that the Leafs get so few powerplays. It absolutely defies reason.

Marner put his stick on the guys glove ...definite penalty. He did the same thing earlier in the game. Long shifts ...lazy play ...whatever it is I'm sure he got a facefull of coaching after the game. - The Law
And Marner's response will be to stuff his ears full of cash and not listen.
There is not much to like about the "culture" of this team. They clearly are unwilling to listen to the coach or put in the consistent effort required to win.

A .500 after 10 games.
Still early.
Matthews needs to play more D and start rounding out a complete game. Its great that he scores, but if you wanna be one of the best on the league...a 200ft game is needed. - Fakepartofme
I find it humorous that we all laugh because Laine is a one-trick pony and love to talk about how Matthews is better than Eichel. |

Start Freddy tonight vs Bruins.
only makes sense to start the backup in back-to-back games if the backup goalie is any good. - MaximusAurelius
Good news Max. There were a couple of reports that Columbus might be making a deal with the Leafs. Apparently, Korpisalo was being scouted last night because the Blue Jackets think Elvis Merzlikins and Veini Vehvilainen are in their future plans.

I would think that Marner respects and likes Babs...he’s been given all the prime ice etc.

He's like a father to him.
But since his father is Paul Marner, it makes their relationship very complicated. |

Thought Kapanen had his best game of the year, some players were ok, Andersen was very good except for the two rather easy goals to start the game (first two shots). Marner had a bad game, Nylander needs some instruction. He's good with the puck, but he's a total puck hog. You play with Matthews, pass the (frank)ing puck, don't skate around for 15 seconds. Leafs need to shoot more, Kapisalo's biggest weakness is top corners (both sides) get some shots instead of trying to pass it into the net.

He gouged a huge contract out of the Leafs, while others in a simlar situation for other teams did not. He's paid virtually the same as Matthews and JT. Expectations are that he put up at this point - he didn't last night.

are they actually thinking of letting korpisalo go??
he would definitely be a step up for the backup position for leafs.
i haven't seen marzlikins in ages, but i thought he was more of a bust?
never heard of the other guy honestly... |

My complaint of Willie is zero urgency. 1st shift of the game he coasted back and it became a 2 on 1 break, which he easily could have broke up if he tried to get back right away. 🤷🏻♂️

The shorty was a bad give away by Marner, but Andersen was a good 12 feet out of the crease when Foligno stepped around him - not super soft, but not a great goal by any stretch. The Dubois goal was a dribbler along the ice that was moving pretty slow. It wasn't a good goal, especially being the 2nd shot on net.

that goal was a horrible mistake by andersen in my opinion.
no pokecheck, no movement at all. |
