There's zero need to create cap space for this year. I highly doubt Botterill becomes a rental guy, which means if he brings in a few million, he'll ship some out. - TheSabresTaco
What? We have like $0 under the cap. What if we're competing at the trade deadline and wanted to add a rental forward? I think we do need to create space. |

Lots of things to say here.
1) they out attempted them by 17
2) they were ahead the entire game, meaning score effects
3) the caps have a benefit of the doubt that the sabres do not. if the caps had a clunker against the rangers i'm more likely to call it an outlier than if the sabres did, where i'd be thinking okay maybe we aren't there yet - robz228
It’s always the people who don’t take the time to understand stats who criticize them the most.
It’s beyond frustrating |

i dont really care as long someone is willing to absorb a follow up post. not everyone needs to look the stats up themselves.
but if you explain in depth and someone shrugs it off, its a bit frustrating |

If im not mistaken(which happens a lot) I dont think they could even roster the last available spot cause they are so tight. |

I'd rather have Bjugstad than Rust. Rust reminds me of a slightly tougher Sheary.
Theres an obvious injury factor with bjugstad but his ability to play center is nice and his size is a nice bonus. - jcragcrumple
Why? He’s way overrated

Dude. If you are going to cherry pick one matchup to try to make a point, don't pick that one.
For the record, it was 6 more shots, which is quite a bit. The rangers also blocked 9 more shots, so the corsi was skewed even further. The Capitals also had considerably better scoring chances and blew them out 5-2.
So yeah, the caps are good.
We could also talk about how they gave up 43 shots to Vancouver or got outshot by 16 by the coyotes or 27-21 by the oilers, or how even Ottawa outshot them by 2. Or how Winnipeg outshot them by 15.
Good grief is right. - matty12345
Yeah...
it goes to show how wild a shot variance can be vs a good team and vs a bad team
On any given night, it’s not even remotely a determining factor of how good 1 team really is overall
And it’s not a predictor of how good 1 team will or won’t be going forward
IT’S WAY TOO SMALL OF A SAMPLE SIZE |

That’s all fine
Using a 1 or 2 game sample size to determine if the Sabres are actually good or not is beyond ridiculous |

Does/will/can/should Montour even play the left side if/when he returns? - LandlordTom
Miller has played many shifts on the left side already this season, most with risto
Gut says he would make the switch, if it happened
but scandella has been solid so there is that |

A big 15-20 goal guy who is 50% on the dot would be a massive improvement over Sobotka |

And yet you have been repeatedly saying they are good based on a small sample size of 3-10 games?
The rangers and wings suck hard. The sabres are trying to prove they aren't just a repeat of last year. Go pound these two bad teams. You're better. Go show it. That's it.
If the sabres lose tonight it doesn't mean they are bad. But it would be nice for us to look better than a bad team. That's all man. |

I do not have any faith in Tage's dance moves or his ability to play on a 2nd line in the NHL
I would consider it a nice surprise if it worked though |

I mean, he's like a nine goal scorer over 82 games if he doesn't improve at all over last year? And that was in 12 minutes or so of ice time. In 15-16 minutes he's like a 12 goal scorer maybe. A very minor improvement gets you to 15.
Isn't that already a considerable improvement to Sobotka? The only reason not to do it is if you think TT needs ahl time, which is a valid pov. |

I can't think of one sabre that is worse this season then last
so housley probably had no f@cking clue and tage will do much better when he gets the call up |
