It's a shame we're doing so well considering how much high-end talent is in the 2020 draft - jcragcrumple
Funny how the same people calling Botts a putz for not making moves to give us a shot at the playoffs last year can’t wait to slot Cozens into the top 6 next year.
Salute to you Jason Botterill.

Vesey creates room for Mitts and Sheary. He’s also a calming influence
Did I excuse poopty numbers the right way? - sbroads24
Vesey is new. He doesn't have any irrational supporters.
He has irrational haters already though. 'Cause he hates Buffalo and refused to play for us!' |

I dunno, Pittsburgh just didn't show up that game. I've watched them a couple times since and they look great.
I'm not saying the sabres aren't better, but if the only penguins hockey you watched this year was that game, they're a very different team than you are expecting. - matty12345
I think this is the perfect example of why the games are played and what things look like "on paper" are not what's used to determine the season and who wins the cup. Because on any given day, any team can win. And on any given day, a team that's expected to be a contender can look like a pretender.
NJ was predicted to be a playoff contender this year, yet at this point of the season they're talking about how the coach could be the first one fired this year. You just don't know.

Funny thing is, he’s historically awful on defense, yet has been decent there here, and is effective on the PK.
It will look pretty good when the goals inevitably come |

Why’s that ? Botts made several additions in the summer to add to the roster, most of which he couldn’t do during the season last year. |

I think the move that Botts should have made at some point last year and failed to was firing Housley. Though whether or not it would have made a difference at that point will never be known, but I think it's very clear right now that the coach was in over his head. |

You said (roughly) that we should tank until we have the same talent level of Tampa
We still aren’t there... are we? |

Trade Skinner while we still can, send Dahlin to roch.
Gas up the tank for one more trip to pick up Lafrenière |

No one would’ve said that before the season started
Therefore, he’d have wanted us to tank again
I don’t think we should’ve
I’ve liked the direction Botts has been taking us for the most part |

As much as Lafreniere playing with Eichel gets me hard. This team won’t finish bottom 10. They could very well finish just outside the playoffs though and have a shot at the lotto. |

We also have a bunch of defensemen could possibly be traded for a winger
In the context of Homie’s post,
I’m not making Tage untouchable by any means
Maybe he’s just a good AHLer that won’t translate up here
We’ve seen that in the past
Happens often actually
Heck maybe the “right trade” i talked about moving Tage in brings us back a winger?!?! - jdfitz77
Tage is too good for the AHL ..... he has nothing to learn or gain there He should come up and adjust to the speed and see how he does.

I expect he'll be an injury call up or a late season addition if we stay healthy. Have to figure that one of Vesey, Sobo or Girgs go at the deadline to make room if he keeps this up.
After watching him, agreed, he looks much better than last year, almost a different player. Same shot, but is starting to use his size as an advantage. |
