have been told, and have read, that coaching doesn't matter - Michael Pachla
so coaching, special teams and faceoffs don't matter.. is there anything else? |

I agree.
I think what I should have written is, as long as the HC is liked and the team is successful, the assistants become invisible. - TheSabresTaco
I wonder how much of an impact Mike Bales is having on this run. I know Kruger gets a lot of the credit, as he should, but the way the Sabres went out and poached Bales from Carolina has me wondering if he isn't getting the credit he deserves. |

Yeah, he seemed aloof
I was listening to Rob Ray on with S&BD last week. They were talking about how Krueger is approachable and will answer any questions. Schopp said something like "Housley was good that way too"
Ray replied something to the effect of "well, sometimes people act a certain way around some people and a different way around others"
I dont think ray was a Housley fan - jcragcrumple
Nope - Ray said once (well before Housley became coach) that a lot of veterans would help rookies transition. Housley was arrogant and wouldn't. |

I'm definitely not saying assistants are useless. They're absolutely vital.
In the public eye, if the team is successful, you won't hear a peep about them. |

Girgensons had a problem with Bylsma as well...not saying gus and matty weren't what they were and are, just noting that Bylsma had a way of turning off players and pissing them off as well - Michael Pachla
Yeah. PHam mentioned this pretty early on in Bylsma's tenure here. Girgensons just couldn't seem to do anything right in the eyes of Bylsma and he was frustrated. Girgensons doesn't seem like the type that responds well to a guy who's strictly Xs and Os. His game is about going out and doing what he knows best. Do you need guys to adjust to a degree? Yes. But at the same time, it's up to the Coach to figure out how to get the most out of his players and clearly neither was working well together. |

Was surprised about Rivet, really smart guy. Talked about Dahlin at the end. Talked about the minutes he's playing, and that he is a elite offensive defenseman, but has things to work on Defensively before he becomes that 24 to 25 min D-man, and how Krueger has said the minutes will come as he grows into the total package. Says people seem to forget he is only 19. |

"California has the worst quality of life of the 50 US states, according to a recent ranking by U.S. News & World Report.
The Golden State came in dead last in the rankings, released earlier this week in partnership with McKinsey & Co.
The rankings considered two sets of metrics for each state:
Natural environment, comprising drinking-water quality, air quality, and pollution and industrial toxins.
Social environment, comprising community engagement, social support, and voter participation.
Two metrics that did not factor into the quality-of-life rankings: California's high cost of living and immigration rates." |

I'm curious what kind of an impact Taylor is having to be honest. I thought that Rochester has played well above expectations the last couple years and it seemed like it had to do with him. Now he's here (on an interim basis) and the team here is thriving. There have been so many changes though, that it's hard to really pinpoint what exactly the main factor is. |

From what I have heard that this is the first time that both Rochester and Buffalo have been on the same page playing the same system.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into that, but Taylor had a better system in Roch than Housley did in Buff. Now that Buff actually has a better system, both teams are playing the same and experiencing success.
If anything that tells me Taylor was ahead of the curve. |
