That's where he belongs.

No...but that’s where he should be because of Benning’s contract with Sutter. Gaudette is just as good as Sutter but he lacks experience.

Gaudette made the team, one of the best players in camp, but he has one poor game in the regular season and the demote him. That’s not a good patient developing team.

He should be in the nhl, however, it’s a numbers game with some poor contracts hanging around the big club. Not the end of the world.

They bring different things to the table though so it's kind of apples to oranges. I still think playing Gaudette and Sutter on the same line with a playmaking winger would give Green the best of both worlds. He still gets his face-off guy, gets defensive zone coverage, but also gets a more offensive-minded 3rd line that can actually make plays for each other instead of relying on individual efforts and garbage goals for offense.

Sutter still looks a bit slower to me than in then past, he's actually played pretty decently. The issue is that his line has very little playmaking and creativity. Not his fault that he's a square peg that gets pushed into a round hole.

I think the fans in this city need to realize what coach speak is, when Green talks about 3 scoring lines, and spots being earned during pre-season, we need to take it all with a large grain of salt, he's saying exactly what the media and fans want to hear, that's all.

Yahoo is weird like that, even trades you make won't effect your lineups until like 4 days later even though there's only a 24 hour trade review.

This, and if they don't want to play Loui, why the hell is he still on the roster?

They certainly do, Sutter’s not terrible, I just prefer Gaudette’s game to his. A lot of it has to do with Sutter’s contract though, at least in my opinion. If Sutter was making 2 million Gaudette would be in the lineup. He’s 23, he should be playing in the NHL.

You gave the real reason why Green plays Sutter over Gaudette its his experience. So why throw in contract other then to make a negative?

I'd rather see Gaudette play but Sutter is healthy and we have lots of capable wingers. So yes, you gave the second real reason that its a numbers game.

Again the contract dig is poor negative fodder.

Listen Nuck4U, not having experience isn’t a negative, Elias Pettersson didn’t have any experience last year and he played well. Gaudette just needs an extended chance, he won’t be great every game, neither is Sutter.

Are you confused? Experience was a positive. Contract was the negative. Plus its Nuckup no need to make up more stuff.

Again agree with you would rather see Gaudette but you actually made the real reasons why we are not.

EP played because the Canucks had no one close to his abilities.

IMO a team at our stage should be focused on future pieces gaining experience, not vets playing because they have it. Hopefully playing Sutter (w/ his decent start on paper) is an effort to build trade value & move him out.

Might have something to do with the fact Sutter is a better player right now for what the team needs.

Part of the equation?

It would be great to trade Sutter for good value. This would be a good scenario, if for instance, Jasek developed enough to be a back up to Gaudette.

The stage this team is at is viewed at differently by the Canucks. They think if healthy they are a playoff team and need to win now. That having the depth of Gaudette, if Sutter goes down, is the type of difference maker to thrive in the season.

Gaudette can get experience playing top minutes on the Comets then come up better tooled to succeed on the Canucks.

Vancouver has a young team. Only Beagle, Sutter, Edler and Benn are over 30 (not incl Erkisson).

you need some vets to balance, insulate and lead.
Sutter wears an A and plays an important role for the team.
Gaudette's time will come.

A tale indeed where the call was develop the kids on the farm. Now its contracts are stopping their development. Strange math employed here.

The truth is Sutter over Gaudette is temporary in this young season. Injury or developments (trade /player gains) will change the equation.
