1. Dylan Strome is in the doghouse.

Call it the doghouse or a demotion. It doesn’t really matter. Either way, Strome’s descent to the fourth line is an enormous shock following a breakout season.

Strome finished last season as the newest member of the Hawks core, scoring 51 points in 58 games after a November trade from the Coyotes. But it has taken only a few games for that role to be questioned.

Instead of discussing how large Strome’s contract extension could be next summer, when he’s scheduled to be a restricted free agent, the conversation has shifted to how he has fallen so far so fast. He has one goal and three assists in nine games and is looking more like the fringe NHL player the Coyotes were happy to unload and not the budding star the Hawks loved having in their lineup.

Strome’s spot on the top power-play unit is gone, and he averaged less than 10 minutes over the last two games while playing a top-six role. On Thursday against the Flyers, Strome didn’t have any shots on goal. On Saturday he had nearly three minutes of power-play time on the second unit but just 9 minutes, 15 seconds of even-strength time.

Strome had a prime chance against the Hurricanes on a short breakaway midway through the second, but goalie Petr Mrazek made a blocker save to keep him without a goal his last seven games.

Colliton downplayed Strome's move to the fourth line and found positives in his game.

“I thought he played well,” Colliton said. “Definitely saw a response. And he was fine last game too. He’s going to help us win. When his habits are good and he’s on the puck and he’s competing, then all of a sudden he’s got some time to make plays and he’s playing in the offensive zone, and you could see that tonight.”

Maybe if the Amerks’ defenders would have stopped any of the Bears’ 6 goals in regulation, they wouldn’t have needed OT.

They played Syracuse last night, not Hershey.

Was the Chicago coach talking about Strome or Nylander above?

4 point night for Lazar

Pilut with a goal and 2 helpers

Dea 2 goals and an assist

Fitzgerald with is first as an Amerk

Offense isn't their problem, I knew they would be weak defensively. Gotta clean up their own end. When a guy like Borgen gets called up, there is nobody in Cincy that can help.

Yeah he hasn't been good. Those stats are glaring. They are playing two rookies at D (Fitzgerald, Bryson) and Redmond, Nelson and Hickey aren't known for their defense. I'm not sure what the issue is but it could be a combination of things. My guess is they need Taylor behind the bench to sort things out.

Just looked at upcoming games...only 2 this week (Mon/Fri). The early part of November sucks ! Just 5 games in the first 15 days.

Crapload of games after the 16th though. Still...we're gonna be itching for games to watch in the early part of November.

Johansson has been much better so far this season, maybe he starts to get more time.

Hope 6K comes back without any hiccups

You are not doing this correctly.

You must dispute every claim, demean posters along the way, and challenge their manhood...well except for Goose and Gerbe for obvious reasons

I wouldn’t have high expectations for UPL this year. Hip surgery for a goalie is a year long process to recover from.

He might be physically better right now but he has been on the ice for 3-4 weeks now. Which isn’t much, no training camp, and hasn’t seen any game action.

My guess is ECHL is first rehab starts wise and see how it goes.

Looking forward to the Bills game, should be able to run the ball with there injuries at DT, there secondary is pretty bad too. Interesting to see what gameplan they come up with.

ha ha true. I guess I would rather stay away from the daily gong show that permeates this thread. Back reading sometimes just sucks the life out of you. More important things, right Ion?

I really am not expecting much, read somewhere that the the hip surgery was more then just a clean up

I would agree. I think we need to pump the brakes on 6K until he gets some games under his belt. Next season might be more realistic for him to be the #1 and carry the team.

Yeah and by no means do I think he is going to suck. Just will take time to recover from. It’s unfortunate.

I’m nervous for this game ..... the bills elite defense got torn apart by Fitzpatrick for 98% of the game.

And Allen struggled big time vs every single defense he has played.

100% agree. It would be next to a miracle if he pulled a carter hart.

Next year is definitely year 1 of seeing where he is at

I think the defense was a little rusty, and they missed Milano big time, that could hurt them again this week if he doesn't play, especially with Ertz and Goedart. The offense has gotta stop shooting themselves in the foot, bad penalties and dropped ball's.

Their November schedule from the 14th through the 30th is brutal as they have 10 games in 17 days, including another game against the Lightning after the overseas back to back, and games against the Bruins, Flames, and a back to back home and home versus the Leafs.

That's s rough stretch.
