If they change the system....CHANGE THE COACH!!! I feel they have generated enough offense to win, it's the defense, defensive positioning by the forwards and the goaltending that is the problem. Haynes doesn't know how to coach defense!!! Lots of young talent being wasted right now!!!

I was a Hynes supporter but after this long span with two games, if something isn't drastically different he has to go. Basically they're playing to their weaknesses right now...Never a smart move.

Also, they could have two wins just as easily with Boqvist in the line up. Why keep him here and not let him play? Give him a ten game run and let's see what we have. We already know who Rooney, Hayden, and Wood are.

It would be okay if the team was bad defensively if they were scoring a lot. But really the entire thing is a poopshow. There isn't a time in which rights itself because there is a fundamental problem with how the team is approaching games.

I've been okay with Hynes through all this but I think it's time he goes. I'd like to see a trap.

It takes players like 4 weeks to adapt to a new system. The time to make that decision was in the offseason. If they make a change like that - they would get to game 25 with a 8-12-5 record and basically decide to piss away another season.

A GM wouldn't make that decision while the team still has hope because a change in system would mean having a .25 win percentage in that span of time.

If the Devils fired Hynes and got to 8-12-5, that would be a significant improvement from the current pace, so I’m not entirely sure what you’re getting at. That seems like a no-brainer to me.

The Devils look terrible, near unwatchable, and the system is a huge part of the problem. This current stretch, with one game in ten days, is where they should’ve dumped Hynes. No, the team wouldn’t suddenly be great, but they’d be on their way to doing something different. Some kind of change. Instead, they’re spending this stretch practicing whatever it is Hynes is having them do, which I don’t believe is going to make them a better team.

Next, they enter a stretch of 18 games in 34 days, which I think most would agree would be a terrible time for a coaching change, and by December they’ll be dead.

Now, granted, I’m overly pessimistic. But you say a coaching change would mean pissing away another season. Do you really believe this season under Hynes will amount to anything? And if so, why?

The two problems is there was no reason to dump Hynes in the off season. Shero felt compelled for some reason to extend Hynes. And the the problem now if who do you go to? What better coach do you see available.

As for the new system 4 week thing; maybe. But you can also play a simplified game that’s pretty effective.

No matter what sport it is if everyone keeps saying a team has the talent to succeed and it's not then the entire coaching staff is at fault.

You missed the point of the article.

We are screwed because we let Kenny Agostino go.

Seriously though, does anyone believe this coaching staff can pull off a real change in how we play? We've looked like a one trick pony for all of the Hynes/Nesreddine years.

This staff shot their creative load on passing back on PP to get into the zone... and I'm pretty sure they stole that. JUST SAYING.

THIS BRAND OF COMPLETE DOUCHE HOCKEY IS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO GET WITH HYNES AND COMPANY. GET USE TO IT.

THE FISH ROTS FROM IT'S BIG BALD HEAD, DOES IT NOT???

Tarasenko is out for 5 months. If the Blues are desperate, maybe a Hall for Parayko trade. I can only dream.

On November 6, 2018, the Blackhawks fired Quenneville after a 6–6–3 start in the 2018–19 season. He concluded his tenure in Chicago with a 452–249–96 regular season record, a 76–52 record in the postseason, and as the second winningest coach in NHL history with 890 wins.

Q got fired after Three (3!) Stanley Cups, but we can't get rid of John Hynes who's literally won Richard.

OK, figuratively won Richard. Still. Just saying. How does this guy have the gold key to the crapper?

Screw that. We should trade for Tarasenko while his value is low and our season is a complete waste anyway!

I think the thing is out of STL is that they probably aren't willing to give the contract to Pietrangelo that he wants/is going to get, so that's why they got Faulk as a sorta replacement. If their season starts to go down the tubes I think they will trade Pietrangelo before other defensemen.

should we be wanting 30yr old Pietrangelo for Hall? Would prefer to stay young. Their 1st is poop cuz it'll probably be around 20th overall.

With a broken pinky for (frank) sake.

Good break for Matt Tennyson, no pun intended but holy cow. Remember when we were wondering how we were going to fit all these guys into the lineup? So fare we've had Butcher, Carrick and Greene lose time in the first what 9 games?

Pessimistic Pete here, since Hynes is too afraid to give Boq a fair shake, and Gusev is not transitioning to the NHL at a very strong rate, I would like remind you all that I was given a great deal of flack when stating that I wanted to Mojo re-signed. Let it be know he has more points than ANY devil. Yes the season is young, but mojo's only downfall was the injury bug. Looked great on Boston's run also. So far he is killing it in Buffalo. 2 years 4.5M AAV is peanuts for a guy who can play a quality 200' game every night. I would have gladly given him more and never bothered with this Simmonds experiment.

I agreed with Don Cherry's statement (I know many people despise the guy, but this is on point) "All a new coach does is give 3 guys more TOI, and 3 guys demoted"

So..... Please dock Simmonds, Rooney, Greene TOI, and lets see more Bratt, Boqv, and Smith.

Just looked at league standings. Dead last. Do not remember that since the early 80s. Sure games in hand, but this is getting real ugly very quickly.
