The Hall situation is a problem. He needed to be signed by the beginning of the season. If he wanted to be here, I feel this would have gotten done. Trading him at the deadline is a disaster. We would be selling low to a playoff team who will give us a low end #1 draft choice and a second-tier prospect. He has to be traded by December 31!!

Timing is definitely a real issue. You can make some good deals near the deadline but you can also be left with your Richard in your hand and get much less value.
Getting something done now with St. Louis looking to replace Tarasenko (suggested by someone yesterday) might be a good option for an early deal.
This is turning in to a high stakes game of chicken. But in my mind the best thing to do is try to reset the team with a new coach and get them playing right so this looks like a good place to be. Right now it's the same poop storm under the same regime.
