I think it makes a ton of sense, though it would certainly make things interesting for teams on long hot streaks/slumps, I think you would see less of each.
Even if they didn't go full board I think working to reduce travel time would help reduce injuries as well as the obvious environmental benefits. - NorthNuck
is it actually proven that injuries have occurred due to travel?
Don't the Canucks shorten their travel by 2000 km when Seattle comes in.
I could see when the East teams have the 2 games at home vs 1 home for the West that you play the back to back so you don't have to go across country all the time. |

Petey said he attempted it last game when it was 3-0. He couldn't get the puck to stick and bobbled it though. - belcherbd
Thought I saw him try that! It was either getting the puck to settle or that move... |

Toews wants the league and PA to look at changing the way schedules are made to improve environmental impact and travel fatigue.
Essentially he's suggesting a series driven schedule similar to baseball.
Here's what Chicago's schedule would look like under this format.
Thoughts? I would be interested in something like that.
Vancouver would travel 8K less miles or about 17%. - belcherbd
i defs wouldnt hate it. i think the league misses out on marketing opportunities like rivalry week or having games all day saturday so this could open things up.
the only downside i can think of is that it would suck to be in a playoff race with someone and they get a 3 game stretch against a team whos starter or star player is down for the week. still only a minor downside for me though |

for sure. i think it would give a little playoff atmosphere to each "series" where the coaches crack down on match ups and tighten up defensively ruining streaks |

Apparently, Hogz was playing on the 4rth line in that game.
- boonerbuck
That's a good sign that Hogz could make the Canucks as a 4th liner to start. Work his way up. Imagine him and Podz on our fourth next season or 2 what kind of balanced scoring that would bring. |

I’d like to see the league experiment with it for one year, I assume the argument against it is that ticket sales could potentially go down. Or maybe they could convince the AHL to do it for a year first and then see the results. |

I can definitely see Tenacious P starting on the 4th line but IMO you gotta have Hoglander with some collaborative & capable linemates... then again (as you just saw) he can do it himself if necessary |

ya id like to see a one year trial. i think the ahl already does little weekender series because of their bus rides(?), so i dont think it would change much for them |

I'm desperate and didn't like my roster. I like it now, so even if I lose, I can tolerate it lol
Was probably willing to do similar for Landy, but unlike you stubborn fools, SMP actually sends some counter offers back. Same with Codes - Nucker101
I was going to send back counter offers and then I looked at your roster and hung up

Collaborative and cable line could be Hogz Gaudz and Podz as a bottom six to start their young NHL careers. Strengthening today's poll question as Canada's deepest team. |

Qualified it with season or 2. But KHL contracts can be bought out. |

The concept is good, just dont think the way that schedule is drawn out, would meet the standards for an environmentally friendly impact, although this is just an example.
This schedule defeats the purpose, if you travel for 1 game, or you go travel and only play 1 New York , Florida, California team etc
It would be an excellent way to create the division/conference rivalries.

Too early to tell but I dunno if he'll be racing to pay out his own contract to come over unless he's 100% ready. |

This.
Doubtful the owners would like that regardless of 'minimizing' the carbon footprint lol.
We don't have the luxury of 162 games like MLB where it doesn't matter if half the games are empty playing the same team 4 night in a row.
And we don't wanna be like MLB. |

I like the format they implemented when Vegas came in, In Toews structure they only play some inter-conference teams just once, in fact there are 14 teams they only play once.
Their own division is 6 each, then own conference is either 3 or 4 times each.
So I am not in favour of this format it seems to revert back to pre Vegas where we would see Ovechkin or Crosby once and maybe not all all if injured |
