I guess JC is figuring if I go down, I go down his way. For those that are stunned (I am surprised, not stunned), would you have criticized the coach for putting him in and sitting either Gilbert or KK? I would of. - LAHawk
I think it's what a coach should do. They made a change, they won, don't flip. If the "lack of talking" to Seabs is actually true yea I have an issue with that.
Sure, Seabs needs to man up and support the team the way he can, but he also deserves a man to man conversation on things. |

Also in Seabs defense, he can just point to Gusto, and say I have had to baby sit him for so long, and he never sat.

Gus has footspeed that makes him a productive player on some level. Yes, he is a total trainwreck in his own zone, but he provides offensive push. Seabs just isn't providing much anymore.
Seabs was never fast, but what I also notice is he plays "soft" now. It's all stick check. Can you tell me the last body check he had? Perhaps he's just so slow now he can't risk it, but he has to do SOMETHING useful to be put on the ice. Gus, for all his warts, does provide some utility. |

Who gives a poop if he's vegan (is he? I had no idea)? Why do you even care?
As far as his other stuff, if that's what he's interested in go for it. Guess what you gotta deal with people who don't think like you. Watch sports and eventually you'll swear it's Sunday morning worship service there is so much religious promotion that it borders on proselytizing. I am no fan of it, but oh well. There are other things athletes say/do I don't support, but I just watch them for the game. Whether or not I agree with Toews on climate change, I am not looking to him to get my views on it either way. And if Jacob Slavin thinks God is why Carolina made it to the Conference Finals last year I don't care about that either and my view really doesn't matter so if Jacob is good with it and it brings peace to his life then awesome. - kwolf68
Well said.
I really don't know and do not care either. It is my clever way of characterizing his style transformation from a red ass determined guy, who packs a lunch pale, to one that does not play with the same fire and determination...At some point he will find it again I hope. |

Fair enough Grit and I will freely admit he has looked pretty weak this year, after a dynamite 2018. I don't get it. Again, I want to see a few more games. We had a Strome and Cat sighting Sunday, if there was ever a time to get a Johnny Toews sighting tonight would be it.
And I feel your frustration because it's my belief that if Toews has a poor year, the Hawks have no shot at the playoffs, NONE, ZERO, ZILCH. If he has a good year, I think we got a shot. I know it's not all on him, but it kinda is, especially as he's the leader of this team.
I'm waiting at least 20 games until I go full on throw the bums out. |

Same page and if 19 regresses back to 16/17/18 Toews and not 19 Toews, then not only don't you make the playoffs, but I think you have to STRONGLY have to consider moving him before you are stuck with another bad ROI vs cap hit.
Again I'll give it time.....20-25 games sounds about right. |

I wonder what Dale/Q would give up for Seabs. The Panthers with their $10 mil. goaltender are giving up almost 4 goals per game. |

Do you think Seabs can change his game and be like a Sopel? Sopel was not very quick, but he was a warrior and he was an intergal part of the 2010 championship. - Topshelf2010
I think the league has changed since 2010 - more speed throughout the lineup. I doubt slowfoot Sopel could survive in the league now. |

Yup, that's my take. More than one poster has questioned if I am really me, because in the past I was ready to sell the farm after 1 bad period. LOL.
I think we need to give this team some time to jell, see what we really got.
And this positive vibe has also been really kinda fun. I don't get all worked up over a hockey game and can have rational conversations with poster in here, with the odd exception. |

I agree Seabrook has earned the right to not be disrespected - but - we don't know what happened Sunday when Seabrook found out he was benched for the game against the Kings - maybe he didn't handle it well and was disrespectful to Colliton. We don't know and therefore we shouldn't sit in judgement and assume Seabrook is innocent and Colliton is being disrespectful to Seabrook.

I'm surprised Colliton is benching Seabrook again.
Not buying into these trade rumours. Hawks know they can't move him and his contract and doubt 7 actually wants to go anywhere.
I think this will all blow over when Seabs is back in the lineup on the weekend. - Tyler Cameron
I was with you until I saw Seabrook’s comment: “I feel like I still got a lot to offer in this league and still be a good player for somebody.” Although I guess the comment might have been made purely out of frustration.

Completely agree. I am not judging either way. Like I said, I do NOT like it IF what seemed to be the characterization from Seabrook's comment is accurate. But I also do not know if there is more to it than that, as you state.
Right now I have no feelings either way and I hope whatever is going on gets smoothed over, because this could become a toxic situation. |

Nothing? Q sat Seabs for a game two years ago when there was nothing resembling an NHL defenseman to take his ice time... he's been bad for a while now. |

Different game in 2010 IMO. Slower players are getting exposed more and more every year.
I think Seabrook has been trying to adjust to the best of his abilities. |

Regula seems like a solid prospect return for the long term rebuild.
Boquist, Mitchell, Beaudin, Vlasic and Regula is a nice looking prospect pool on Defense with a mix of skill, 200ft play, and size amongst the group. |

Perlini not in the lineup for the Wings tonight.
Crosby with a goal and assist (19's season total to date) and Kahun with 2 helpers in the 1st period. Pens dominating the Flyers 4-0. |

Even if Stan could trade Seabrook it's not like the return will be anything good. Either Stan retains 50% of Seabrook's salary or he takes back another bad contract, like Loui Eriksson. Would a trade under those conditions really be worth it? - DarthKane
If you can save 4-5 mil per over the final 4 years...such deal materializes without giving away their top d prospects...yes i make that deal...
i seriously doubt seab retires a blackhawk...i think he is moved one way or the other within a year.. |

7 mil per for 6-7 dman playing less than 15 min a night with limited special teams play is a tough nut to swallow..

At least this version of the Hawks is more willing and able to dump and chase when things are getting clogged up. |
