We expected a season of growing pains, but all we're left with is the pain without the growth. Losing is one thing, but the way the team is losing is embarrassing. - DarthKane
Sadly, this team looks squarely like an easy lottery team...this with Toews, Kane, keith, etc. How the nightly have fallen |

If it looks like the team will continue to play like this should the Hawks keep Dach around and subject him to a season of poor team efforts? Maybe it's not about being ready or not, but more about the impact the season would have on him. - DarthKane
Have been thinking similar. Send him down. Let some of the other kids like Nylander keep finding his game with the big club.
Maybe get another top 5 pick if this is how the season continues to play out...and if they are out by the deadline, make some other trades and accumulate picks. |

Like it or not (and the players may not), we'll have Marc Crawford filling in rest of year. - pdx2ord Hi

With what their honest options are it may be the best first move for now.

This is not meant to bash Toews but the Hawks had to have a lot of things go right to have a successful year and at the top of the list was that Toews had to play as well as he did last season and not as poorly as he did the couple seasons before. Through 11 games he has not played even close to how well he played last season. The fact is that without Toews playing like a #1 center the Hawks have no shot to have a successful season. Period.
Again, it's not just Toews - the Hawks needed a lot of things to go their way and so far the only thing on the list that is in the positive column is goaltending. Even with the PK doing a little better lately, they're still bad and the PP is even worse. The forwards playing better defense is marginally better but not enough to win games against good teams. The new players have been OK but nothing exceptional to the point they're difference makers. Kane, Cat and Strome can't get off the dime and even though the other potential top-6 forwards have shown a few flashes they haven't established anything yet.
But even if a bunch of those things have been better - without Toews being the "good Toews" - forget about it. How many elite team don't have an elite #1 center? Without the good Toews - we don't have one. - EbonyRaptor
might as well bench him...he will accomplish about just as much...

Bowman did make some good trades, but this coach has no business patrolling NHL benches. Cut bait now. He's not some sort of genius coach. He'll be coaching in Saskatoon in 3 years. Cut bait now, get a proven coach to command respect from the veteran guys, that's my main issue with Stan because I like a lot of his off season moves. - kwolf68
I agree bring in Crawford .It would be nice if they could get Dave Hunter as the GM ,I think he gone to Seattle |

I agree, but feel like it will happen by default. Isn't that really why he was brought in? A safety net if they pull the plug. |

I've been watching the Blackhawks' game at my own pace from home, cutting clipping and tracking some stats. I'm only through two periods, but I don't think I've seen many worse games from the Hawks since I've been on the beat.
been some bad ones in the last few years but this one is certainly in the team picture... - bogiedoc
While Powers isn't wrong, I do lol at him "tracking" stats. He's talking shots and there are literally sites that will do that for him. |

Maybe as stop gap, but not a great solution. Not impressed with any of the coaching staff at this level. Colliton and Brookbank needed to stay at Rockford. |

I’m thinking Seabrook plays next game, so who sits? So far Gilbert looks good, KK’s name has not been called much, that’s good for a dman, so Gus? And let’s score a goal before Vtrash shows up. - Angotti

He needs to goto Juniors tomorrow AM. Period, but Hawks propaganda ministry will keep bullpoopting its fans. The best thing for Dach and the future is to let him go back to Juniors and build up his strength. He's a big kid with potential, but was a rag doll in the NHL. - kwolf68
I understand your point of view but I'm still on the fence. It usually takes a good year or more for a rookie to get his feet under him and I don't doubt he would be better prepared to start his NHL career after another year of getting stronger - but he would still have that "break in period" and I'm not sure that in the big picture it wouldn't be better to let him do the breaking in this year.

I would think so, unless there's someone else around the team that's qualified and interested. |

At this point, I'll concede to Scottak. Agree, I think Bowman's moves this summer were good. Idk...if this is a case of some of the high paid veterans not showing respect to the coach, maybe some of them should follow him out of town if possible. |

Yeah, it appears that may be the case, and I was one excited when he got promoted (largely b/c of his development chops).
Too bad they cannot go back down, because Rockford appears to be a train wreck, too, and we really can't afford to continue not developing any bench down there. Feel like no one from there since Shaw / Saad has worked out. |

It’s just another mistake added to a long list of Bowman moves that have the Hawks headed towards 5 full years without a playoff series win. - EnzoD
Bowman should get some credit with his critique. He did sign Lehner, Carpenter has been a good b6 pick-up, and trading for guys like De Haan and Kubalik are real nice. And even though I'm jaded about the Jokiharju trade, Nylander has been good the last handful of game.
Then you have the downs: Smith is trash, the Jokiharju trade did leave them down to only 3 RD in system (with one being injury prone), and JC hasn't been a good coach. |

If they’re sellers at the deadline - meaning they’re missing the tournament again - is Kane looking for a trade?
I don’t think that’s so far-fetched. - StLBravesFan
Most playoff teams would be hard pressed to fit him and Idk if he'd waive for anything less than that - or at least one that might have more of a perceived chance than the Hawks in the next year or so. |
