Someone better tell Maurice that if he plays Gustafsson on Tuesday that's 9 games, and he has to make a decision Europe or burn that first year off for guy playing 6:01 a game. |

Heinola-Niku pairing absolutely shredding fools in the A. If only there weren’t so many quality NHL defencemen blocking their progress on the Jets. Oh well. - Rexypoo
I am ok with keeping Heinola from burning a year on that precious entry level deal. Yes he is better than current roster'ed players, but if the jets aren't playing like a contender, why burn a year of this deal. There is a quality young core of forwards, so why burn a year off the deal. I think if Morrissey were to get injured, this D core would be crippled leaving these kids exposed and wasting a very important cheap contract. I remember watching the leafs the year they finished dead last, and in the final 15 games they activated Nylander. What a major and costly mismanagement that was.
Also, I know you hate Sbisa, but the guy is a big mobile D capable of being a great 5/6D |

A: I agree the Jets shouldn’t use Heinola as long as they aren’t looking like a contender. Which means as long as Maurice is here, which could be forever, so who knows
B: Morrissey has been bad this year, which has kind of already been crippling. He *should* bounce back, so I’m not overly worried. Now is the year to have a rough one.
C: Sbisa has never even been a passable 7th defencemen in his entire career. At 29, in the Jets system, with an offside Bitetto? F*ckin LOL he’s gonna get killed.
D: Using Nylander didn’t really cost them anything. He’s signed longish term at well below market value on a team desperate for value deals. |

I'm pretty sure that is why he isn't filing a grievance report. Or did that just happen? Either way, the guy topped me by 5lbs in the local bass derby. Hard to not recognize they guy. This was a week or two prior to the surgery. Sure doesn't seem concerned about hockey at the moment but you guys all seem a little to quick to forget that the guy is a 0.75ppg D man who makes this NHL look like beer league hockey, and manhandles anyone on the ice. If he is healthy, and gets 12+ games of conditioning, you will need him in the playoffs. - bikeguy99
Pretty sure there has been quite a few NHL d-men that were .75 pts per game players - but that was yesterday, not today. But time waits for no man, especially ones who are big (out of shape?) and seemingly increasingly brittle.
Playoffs? Do we make the playoffs with our current defensive structure? If we don't, so much for the final 12 games. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm thinking "not" - not unless we make a major deal that includes a significant d-man coming back. But who he is or where he comes from? Or who do we give up? That's the question. |

He is also responsible for taking lots of minor penalties that would keep us on the penalty kill, which has been atrocious this year. |

He both A: FAAAAR outplays the negative penalty differential, and B: vastly improves the PK |

Pionk is a fantastic athlete, quickness, shifty, stronger than he looks and good vision/game sense.
'Staying in the fight' was the phrase on the broadcast and that describes the Jets so far this season. Laine's game is still going strong, Connor also. Wheeler's body language is very different from last year - is this him making adjustments and adapting his style to help the room or is he battling an injury? Looks like he has the weight of the world on him. Sheifele is masterful in the offensive zone - always seems to find space and has ability to dog the puck long enough to draw defenders.
Good road win for NJ and strong performance from Blackwood. |

The only person that has saved the jets so far this season is Hellebuyck. If his save percentage wasn't at .930 but at last years stat .913 the Jets would not be 2 points out of a playoff spot but down around LA territory. |

Agree, the Jets are staying in the fight or atleast trying to, and really what else are they going to do. With the D they started the season with and all the unfortunate injuries and missed games what else should we suspect. Also agree that Laine has played better this year however a little concerned with his goals so far. He's had a number of clear shots at the net and his shot just doesn't look as dangerous or deceiving to goaltenders as it was the past couple of years. |

I chalk the lack of goals up to him learning new tricks to become a goal scorer and not just a shooter, and also think his goals will come in streaks. Not too worried about it yet. |

He was 0.75ppg just last season. Over 1ppg through his career in playoffs. The guy only got better in his 30's (especially reducing his defensive gaffs), and of the 3-4 D to produce more offensively, NOBODY could bring the same physicality. Guys like that make opposing players think twice about taking liberties on the young talent. Give him some time, because the Jets need this guy if they want to do any damage in playoffs. Also a 2C, but weve discussed that many times |

Pionk has 50% more points than Trouba, at 37.5% of the cost, and brought Heinola with him. After just 8 games, Ville is still just one point back of Trouba........ Chevy did a fantastic job in deciding who his real assets were, and letting the overrated guys walk. |

Laine has got 14 goals in his last 74 games. That ties him with other generational goal scorers named Lars Eller, Andrew Shaw, Alex Tuch and Joonas Donskoi |

A fool for stating a fact? You are the one that called him a generational goal scorer did you not. Why don't you look in the mirror before you go calling people names. |

Don’t you know that “goals” is not a true measure of a generational goal scorer?!?!
Corsi, Fenwick, Zone starts are what matters.

It's a pretty well-known fact that Kane has a gambling problem. It goes back to Winnipeg and likely even Buffalo. In the Peg he had been known ( when injured/ etc) to walk over from the pressbox mid-game to play high roller blackjack at the casino. In Buffalo , the Seneca casino is about two blocks away from the arena as well and was probably where he developed his "habit". Finally, we all remember that pic of him in Vegas with all the cash on his back.

Best wishes for a full recovery for Bryan Little. The guy always left it all on the ice.
Seems like the injury is more serious than at first thought. |

I like all those players listed. Doonskoi is pure speed and Tuch should be a perennial 25 goal scorer on the cheap. It's no secret that the second half of last season had Laine looking like a bum, but his contract is fair, and he is starting to show more promise every day. He did score 18 goals in a month...... As much as I hate his 2-way game, improvements are apparent and the guy can score from 30' out. Seems to be playing with some passion these days. But with little likely going on the LTIR, and appleton still out, I feel we need Laine back on the RW, and Raslovic at 2C. Lowry is an absolute bull, but his high end offensive talents are lacking for 2C role. |
