Yeah, as much as people like rip JB for Virtanen and OJ, he dodged some potential land mines when he picked Brock, Petey and Quinn
It’s not like those were 2003 type of drafts where almost every player was legit and almost every GM looked good - Nucker101
Some good potential in 2nd rounders. Lind, Woo, Hoglander. |

Chicago are a bad team so him sticking around makes sense. - VANTEL
I don't like other teams to make smart moves but I would send him to Saskatoon. |

awhile? Boeser in the 20’s was a steal - Nucker101
True, totally slipped my mind as I was trying to think further back. BB has his warts on the defensive side but you can overlook that because he contributes offensively. Something I’d be unwilling to do with say Goldobin. |

Every once and awhile you get lucky and make a good pick at the same time, Pettersson was that for us. It’s been awhile since they did that at the draft table.
BTW...Mittlestadt is going to be a heck of a player imo. - Pacificgem
He's off to a good start - along with that team. He got crazy hands/vision, if only he was faster he'd really be dangerous. |

He has been up for a few games . He got 1 G 1A in 6 games.
I took him in the hockey pool for 4 days and he scored on my first night with him. Putting up points (2) is easy with Kane . I dropped him very quickly.
I still don't think he will last and I still think that Jack Hughes and Kakko will be just average players. - VANTEL
Average meaning 2nd liners?
I think the Calder will be between Q.Hughes and Makar. Makar is legit though so Quinn is gonna have to avoid any slumps or he’ll lose ground.
Still think Jack will turn his season around, but not enough to win the Calder. |

I can forgive him for OJ, to some degree, however, Virtanen was a stupid pick. That kid has never had any hockey sense, if we had a competent scouting staff at the time they should’ve known that. |

Was there ever a time two brothers were in the running for the Calder finalists? |

Makar is a phenomenal player, at even strength and special teams. Q. Hughes thus far is producing on the PP but lacking at even strength. From what I can see anyway.
Edit: I just looked it up, Makar has 6 of his 10 points on the PP so pretty even. Quinn has 8 of his 10 on the PP. |

Was thinking to myself who is better. I think I'd have to give the edge to Makar. Only slightly. |

He was hired shortly before that draft so he never had a chance to make the changes he wanted to:
How scouts evaluate players, re-assigning scouts to different leagues, hiring/letting go of scouts, Brackett given a bigger role, etc. |

I wanted the Flyers to pick Makar or Heiskanen, never a Patrick fan and they needed to improve their D. Biting them in the ass now. Stupid Hextall |

You quoted Nucker saying “he’s going to be a #1 defenceman is this league for a long time” and asked “Petey or Makar”. You tell me. |

I wanted makar in the worst way.
Now everyone sees why.
I dont think I'd ever hoped for any player as much as I did for makar |
