How about we just bring Asplund up put him at 3C move Mitts to 2C and move Mojo to 2RW, and then Sobotka can sit - Buff36
Can’t disagree with this idea. Asplund night he Lockport Larry 2.0 though. Might need more offense from that center position |

I'm sorry. I guess I'll elaborate. Was there issues in how the game was played that night? sure. But they won (via shutout, as I mentioned) so at the end of the day, I'm not going to panic and run around the room like my hair is on fire.
They should be looking to improve after each and every game. Win or lose. But you know what ACTUALLY matters at the end of the season? The # in the W column, so I won't sit here and apologize for being satisfied with the W that night. - HonkFortheGoose
What you are basically saying is winning is better than losing. It's a hard point to argue. That was a fun discussion in the tank year, but it's hard to have much to say about it now.
It also leaves us in this weird zone where we are allowed to point out the positives in losses, but any negatives in wins just get answered with 'Scoreboard'. Are we that simplistic? Can a win not look bad, and a tough loss not be an encouraging sign? |

thats very presumptuous to assume I know how to read, knowing that I dont know how to spell
I apparently didnt get the memo about how much he loves Minnesota. BUt a google search does seem to confirm it,,,,,, So cross him off then

All that and you still didn't read it entirely. Congrats. |

A team, or a line, or a player, can have confidence & chemistry and go up against another team that has this as well
Gretzky got stopped on breakaways many times
Andrew Peters scores some goals
Bad teams beat good teams on any given night
There’s more to it than the stats sheet tells ya - jdfitz77
Gretzky is the all time leader in goals.
Andrew Peters has bad stats.
Bad teams lose, that's why they're bad.
If you looked at the stats, it would tell you exactly that. |

Like about missing out on Gusev?
Or telling us how Mojo isn't a center and we shouldn't do that?
Or does this only apply to me discussing Sobotka in the top-6? - jcragcrumple
Am i saying any of that while we are rocking a record that’s well above what anyone on here thought we’d have?
Nope
What’s been going on has been great
I’m loving it
Botts and Kruger have earned my trust
Sorry u (and others) don’t see it that way
It’s a pretty fun time though |

I am pretty sick of hearing about this stat or that stat, everybody wants the team to improve. But how do you go about it to get it done. There really is no stats for that, unless you use an in house fix, and if there was one I think Krueger would have done it by now |

You're very good at speaking for me.
The Sabres are super fun
Also,
Sobotka doesn't belong in the top-6.
Feel free to disagree |

Also- we’re probably going to start losing a lot of games soon if things don’t change and we are playing good teams like Tampa and Washington as opposed to NY and Detroit.
It’s really ok to have concerns while also being happy were 9-2-2 |

He wasn't even in the league, that's how awesome he is. I like the job he's done so far but to say no other line combination can possibly exist that would be better for the players because almighty Krueger hasn't done it is beyond fanboying at this point. Maybe, just maybe, he didn't get all four line combinations perfect on his first try??
Everyone can laugh at Babcock, with all his rings, but even suggest a line change and you insult the genius of Krueger. |

I just think discussing possible trade targets and upgrades is fun.
There's no such thing as a perfect roster - although Tanner may disagree because the leafs obviously assembled the best one of the cap era |

What I don't care about the past, or what Babcock has done, he's not the coach, I care what Krueger does this year and so far it's pretty good, has he made mistakes maybe, but I am not good enough of a evaluator to know that, but he's a professional hockey coach and we are not. |

It's so fun having a conversation with people who just shout 'scoreboard!' to every valid point.
Instead of discussing hockey at a rational level, let's just all post '9-2-2' over and over and over. - matty12345

What up Homie? Glad my kids are getting older, my younger is going out trick or treating with the wife but my older is just having friends over so I get to just stay home, hand out candy and crush beers. And dole out beers / shots to any neighborhood dads that also want a treat. |

Babcock has one ring, so does Bylsma. Babcock is 0-7 in the first round of the playoffs his last 7 tries. He is a great coach but not the prodigy some make him out to be. |

The way I see it, Kreuger has Sobotka on the 2nd line because that is where his presence on the team hurts us the least. They are producing despite his presence on the line. The GLO line has good chemistry, the top line has its own anchor in Olofsson, and the third line has not been consistent but has had its own good moments.

Interesting idea. Having your top 3 centres being 23 and younger and asking them to go up against the elite teams of the league is pretty intimidating though. |

way to actually have an idea.....
Could you be more vague?
I'm all for making an upgrade if I can. But everyone is beating this horse that Botterill has plenty of options to bring in that top 6 RW and then has 0 actual real ideas outside of "Picks, prospects, and players" to accomplish that task.
your idea in another post of Bogo may be something they could make happen, but moving a guy coming off hip surgery is easier said than done. Not impossible, but also not exactly easy. - HonkFortheGoose
Because, each time anyone brings up a trade Proposal, it is ridiculed by many.
But, I'm an internet tough guy who sleep at a discounted Motel 4 last night and am tired from all the noise from the room next door rented by the hour...
Risto ($5.4m)- his lovers would say he is a top pairing, minute chewing, young, physical, cost controlled RhD that can QB a PP as well as kill penalties, and puts up points
Scandella ($4.75m)- a LhD that has proven to be a solid defender, except under Phyllis when the whole team sucked, and can kill penalties, score once every blue moon
Jimmy Vesey ($2.35m) - well, I mean, he ...is a player with 30 pt potential, can play up and down the lineup, kill penalties
Tage Thompson (~0.9m) - young, skilled forward who has power forward potential on the right wing.
2021 2nd
[$13.3m out]
To The Peg for
Nicolij Ehlers ($6.5m)
Bryan Little ($6.5m)
[$13.0m out]
Hey Fitz, pass the God Dam Xbox Controller,
Buff36...get the car ready for Wegm...err Winnipegman's, we got a shopping list.
Somebody wake up Botts, tell him to have Kim plug in the fax device
Sabres:
VO - Eichel - Skunk
Skins - MOJO - Ehlers
Sheary - Mitts - Little
Girgs - Larry - Slopok
Lazar
Dahlin - Montour/ Joker/Miller
McCabe - Montour/ Joker/Miller
Pilut - Montour/ Joker/Miller

The only thing we can realistically do is call up Thompson or Asplund. No team is going to make a knee jerk move this early in the season (and yes i understand your reply is a sarcastic joke) |

Knee jerk move perhaps not. But there are other types of moves. I have to believe botts was trying to add one more forward during the off-season. It didn't pan out. Does that mean he quits looking until the deadline?
There has to be another team out there, who needed D in the off-season, couldn't make a deal, and are still looking.
Dumped roster players for picks it's too early for. But we don't have that kind of cap anyway. But it's never too early for a good ole hockey trade. |

I honestly cannot recollect many memorable trades that took place in October/November in recent memory. Vanek to the Isles rings a bell but I can't think of any others. |

Discussing, sure
Constant complaining, doubtful - jdfitz77
I don't see complaining, and I haven't seen anyone say a trade needs to be imminent.
But you twist everything to fit your narrative, you post links to the standings, repeat the 9-2-2 ad neaseum, state a trade isn't necessary cause it will disrupt chemistry and do everything to piss everyone off. They, like me are frustrated at the constant BS |
