Here's some guys Botts should be looking into...real 2nd liners..you know, guys who could actually help drive the line rather than dragging it down.

Ehlers is always mentioned as available, and with Buff having surgery, and the Jets' slow start, you have to think they are looking for D more now than ever. This is a trade that is begging to be made.
I also covet Buchnevic, but I don't know how you pry him out of the big city. |

Well i have no doubt that at some point Sheary, Vesey, Tage, etc will end up getting a shot there
So i guess we will see
For now...
I’m content to judge that line as a group
And the group is producing well - jdfitz77
Why, 2 if those guys won't be here next year.
Botts should be trying to upgrade the team now, and for the longterm
You know, like what everyone wanted him to do about 11 months ago. Now it's different SMH. |

It's a very nice list, it's like you think Botts can go into a McDonalds and these guys are like a happy meal you can just buy, it would be nice but you need 2 to tango |

Well, with 3 good players, they have a higher probability of sustaining what 2 and a pylon are doing now - IonSabres
I don’t disagree
All I’ve said is that right now it’s working
And I’m ok with Botts being patient on a trade till he gets the deal he likes
I’ve disliked Sobotka from the second we made that terrible trade
I’m also not gonna try to argue he’s holding the line down, when the line has been doing really well
It’s just dumb to do so
I also have faith that when a trade becomes available that Botts likes, he’ll make it
I don’t think he’s just sitting on good offers for the hell of it
It’s like some think this is a video game & he can just pull off a good trade when we he wants |

Yes, if you give Sobotka credit for Skinner's 7 even strength goals that Sobotka hasn't done anything to create, Sobotka is doing terrific - jcragcrumple

How can they be more successful if they’re already scoring at an unsustainable rate? - jdfitz77
I think the argument being made was not that they are scoring at an unsustainable rate, but that they are scoring at an unsustainable rate with a RW performing the way Sobotka has performed so far this year. |

You're saying "the line is working"
The line is working because Skinner is an elite 5-on-5 scorer.
Sobotka is on the line, but correlation does not equal causation. Skinner is good, but that does not mean Sobotka should be on that line, nor does it mean he's doing a good job of being a 2nd line player.
He's a grinder. He's out of his element, donny
It is an objective fact that a 45-50 point winger would be an upgrade for a 2nd line |

I just don't get it, the guy gets paid to try and improve the team, and I think he has done a pretty good job so far. He probably could make a trade right now if he wanted, but obviously he doesn't like it enough to do it. Something is gonna happen, Botts has some strong cards he can use that could help us now and the future. |

I keep trying to tell you that I’m not saying that
You keep inferring that, but it is NOT my point
Kruger likes him there, obviously
Skinner has spoken well of him
The line as a whole is producing
I am unequivocally not saying that Sobotka is making Skinner a good scorer
I’m saying he’s part of a line that’s doing well
And therefor,
I’m ok with Botts being patient to get the deal he wants!!!
I really don’t know how many more times o have to type this
Do u think that Botts is just turning down good trade offers?
I do not |

It’s also logical to think he would put a better quality player in our Top 6, but he hasn’t. We have players who could outperform him there in the system. And they’re lower cap hit would provide greater flexibility going forward.
But we haven’t done that, and we haven’t used any of the surplus we have on the blue line to upgrade either.
So maybe our GM isn’t doing the logical thing right now. Maybe he’s being strategic rather than logical. |

But on my PlayStation i was able to trade Sobotka, Tage, Sheary & Scandella for Laine
So Botts should be able to at least pull off Risto & a 1st for him, right??
I’m quite sure that Botts isn’t intentionally trying to not improve the team |

It will be difficult to land any of those guys I would have to imagine.
Spot on with The Peg, They are so lacking in quality NHL Dmen they could literally use 2 or 3 guys.
So ship them Risto & Scandella in return for Ehlers and some guy in his contract year |

Your whole argument around Sobotka as a second liner is based on two faulty premises: we need a trade to replace him; and second line goals are a fixed quantity such that if Slobotkas replacement scores more it will mean fewer are available to his line mates.
I don’t even need to explain why these two premises are wrong. It’s clear b |

Well then his “strategy” is working... isn’t it?
The line is producing
And we have a better record than ANYONE thought we’d have right now
He gets the benefit of the doubt imo |

Well...
I’m giving Botts, Kruger & Skinner’s opinion more weight then yours & others on here
Do i think Botts is sitting on good trade offers?
Nope
Could Kruger make better lines?
Maybe
But we’ve got a much better record than any of us thought we’d have right now
So yeah... he gets the benefit of the doubt
Also... i don’t think Sobotka is a “2nd liner”
I think that line is working with him on it
I’ve said this over, and over, and over
Would i rather have Ehlers on line2?
ABSOLUTELY
Am i getting upset about the formation of a line that is producing,
by a coach that has us winning above all expectations?
Absolutely not
That seems dumb to me |

Again...
Botts has done a good job imo,
so he gets the benefit of the doubt imo
And Kruger has us winning more than any of us thought
So again, he gets the benefit of the doubt imo
We are playing well
And the team is fun to watch
I just don’t get all the b!tching & moaning
I’m enjoying the ride
I also think this team isn’t complete
And Botts will continue to try & improve it |
