If it didn't happen at EVS how was Tavares a -5, Marner a -4 and Hyman a -3? - AdamFrench
Tavares out is a big deal, he’s not only just been named the Captain of the team but he’s also one of our best players at both ends of the ice.
Without watching a second of the Leafs this year I know that line is BS |

If you haven't watched than why comment?
He's been pretty good defensively during his time with the Leafs so far.

Anyone who thinks Ovechkin hasnt changed his game throughout his career is uneducated.
Since the Ovi finished third-worst in the League at minus-35 in 2013-14, Ovechkin is plus-43.
Ovi used to be one dimensional and obviously more of an offensive player. He plays hard and works just as hard backchecking, blocking shots, and dishing out hits. That was not always the case in the past.
Say what you want about how long it took Ovi to win a cup but its a team game and the Caps unfortunately ran into a very elite Pittsburgh Penguins dynasty year after year. Hockey is a team sport. Ovi has always performed in the playoffs and anytime they lost it wasnt because a lack of his production. Those second round matchups were debatably the two best teams left in the playoffs. They just so happened to be playing each other in the second round as a result of sketchy playoff formatting. - BrenosBagels
plus minus doesnt prove much of anything, one outlier season where he had one of the worst on ice results (goalie sucked and nobody on the ice scored when he was out there).
and combining the next 6 seasons to show he changed his game..well that doesnt add up to me.
he had seasons of plus 45, 28 and 24 all before the -35
did he change his game back then, and then change it for 1 season, and then change back?
I am not saying he didnt play differently, just that plus minus doesnt show it |

Except the hit on Muzzin. Wilson only took 15 or 16 strides into that hit. And the 2 minute penalty for a knee hit on Barrie was BS. If that's not intent to injure nothing is. Just one time, when Wilson winds up with the 15 stride attempt to kill someone, it would be nice if he took a nice butt end in the gut. I'd do a jig. - winsix
ahh yes...
butt end just above the jock...
I don't think that Wilson took 15 or 16 strides... it was only 7 or 8
and there a few guys around who do the knee drag thing which Wilson also does,
Komarov does it, dude from Bruins Wagner does it, there are a few...
based on a little inside info.. #44 got tagged with one of those hits a few games ago...hence his missing practice.
if you hit the guy and he's got his knee side ways it can be very impactful.... not really much different from hitting a guy open ice with your knee extended... can be very bad.

Thats fair. That is a +45 average since then. Just indicative of his progression without getting into the weeds. All I am saying is he used to not be reliable as reliable on the defensive end. He would rush up the ice trying to take matters into his own hands offensively then fail to get back on defense often times creating a 5 on 4 or just odd man rush for the opposing team. You rarely see that anymore with him. He hustles harder than anyone on the squad to get back on defense. This has been well documented and notated by his coaches and teammates |

But overall he’s still a selfish player who has no problems sitting on the ice for 2 minutes of the power play, sits and waits half the game in one spot hoping for a one timer feed from Backstrom or Carlson. He’s certainly one of the greatest goal scorers of all time but he’s full of crap saying that he changed his game so that his team could win the Stanley Cup. More like his team played incredible as a whole and he was there to cash in the prize with his banana curved stick and dollar store teeth.
I don't know Lucas, I feel you might be a little hard on Ovechkin.
He did change his game after Trotz came along and the results speak for themselves. Sure the Caps all came together at some point but he was an integral part of that change.
Pretty sure his team wants him to be there for 2 minutes on the powerplay.... that's not being selfish..... it's being smart. - Scabeh
The Athletic had a breakdown of his overall numbers and they found that they haven't changed much over his career. Defensively he's pretty much the same, he's always been a physical player with "intangibles" so it's not like he added much to his game.
Depends what people think of underlying numbers but it's debatable whether it was the team changing their game or just a good team consistently getting the opportunity and finally breaking through. Some of those Pens series could have gone either way to be honest.

explain this to me... if you can...
so Tavares was pretty lousy player apparently, or at least according to the Islander faithful... didn't really score that much, according to you he's not a two way player, Barzals better, won't be missed ... yadda yadda yadda... it goes on and on
why then did the Isles try to resign him?
why were so many of the noisy fans so butt hurt over his departure?
Leafs gave the Islanders LouLams, Komarov and Martin back... aren't you happy with those toys?

For 2 games, then the Perfection Line poop all over them... - AdamFrench
Besides it being a really douchey name, the reason I hate it so much is because (frank)head Hughson verbally sucks their Richards all game and keeps saying it. So (frank)ing annoying. |

#fireDubas - MaximusAurelius
seriously ( I understand you poking fun) wouldn't it be nice to see these guys both Babcock and Dubas simply adjust.
"you know Mike the whole backup thing ain't working right now - got any other ideas"?
"maybe the powerplay going 0-5 might be an indication that is okay to mix things up a little"?
"hey Kyle... perhaps we could use a forward or two who aren't 3'10" tall and weigh more than 200lbs"?
I'd like to see them both demonstrate that they can adapt and clean up some of the messes they've made |

I'm sure there is open dialogue between the two.. It's not like Babs did Kyle's grandmother and they are no longer on speaking terms.

Tfc are on a crazy run - Fakepartofme
I'm very glad they beat those Atlanta bumholes. That team deserved to lose.
Bradley literally doesn't touch the guy and they get a penalty kick for it. And after they review it they don't change the call. Thankfully the goaile made the save on it.
Just like in hockey and baseball (and I guess the NFL now), what's the damn point in review if you continuously get the calls wrong? |

I'm sure there is communications between them... but individually, while they preach all the same vanilla milk-toast platitudes... nothing much changes.

Philly 4 Leafs 2
Sorry, a few more days of hating each other. - Garnie
Philly's goaltending has been trash, so I expect the Leafs to turn them into Veznia candidates just like they do with every goalie they face. |

What? Pointing out how bad he was in his own zone all of a sudden makes him a lousy player? I didn't mean to trigger you bud. JT is one of the best players in the league anybody will tell you that. It's ok that he isn't perfect but if he is truly one of your better defensive forwards then god help you guys. As far as all the other nonsense you posted I don't get involved in that childish banter, that's for you and the immature Isles fans to discuss. - Vukota
