Only way I trade Borgen is for a bonafide top 6 center who will center Skins and MOJO
and before people get up in arms.. Mitts Cozens etc can go there when they play their way there. - hubie
I mean, I like Borgen and all but he isn’t fetching anything remotely close to a 2C.
I don’t think he has the value Guhle had last year |

Disagree. He has a ton of talent. He was buried on the bottom six in toronto because...well they're loaded. He would get to play 2RW here and I imagine he could get 50 points.
He makes as much money as Erod, so it's not a huge investment. I've got way too many defensemen anyway, and I don't think Borgen projects to be anything more than a bottom pairing defenseman. |

Agreed
Which makes me wonder,
What would Botts value more....
a mid round pick we could get for Scandella,
or the depth he’d provide) - jdfitz77
A mid round pick and $4m in cap space that could be used to bring in a better player in another move. |

Per Dreger, we’re trying to add a top 6 and bottom 6 forward. |

i don't think you are goign to get one team willing to take BOTH Bogo and Scandella and then give you something of value... - SabresFaninIndiana
you're probably right about that.
I'd trade Scandella now if they can. Then look to move Bogo and another piece not named Borgen or Pekar once Bogo is healthy. |

why would the sens just give away connor brown though? - homiedclown
Because he is 25 and an RFA after the season, and they are at least two - three years from winning. Connor Brown was a nice throw in for them in the leafs deal, but he can't possibly be part of their core. When you are a potentially good team like the Sabres, getting a middle six winger who is hitting his prime can really help you win. For Ottawa, he isn't a core building block, and he isn't 22-23, so I'm confident they'll deal him by the deadline.
They won't give him away, but they'll get a 2nd rounder or a prospect like Borgen for him. |

Dreger was on the instigators just now agreeing that the sabres are looking at the kings for toffoli. - Shadman306
He’s been declining for a few years now
And doesn’t have the grit or speed we should be looking to add
He might be able to bounce back
But unless he comes very cheap, I’m not really a fan of spending assets to get a rental |

how many kings games must one watch to make an adequate grit and speed analysis |

Jeff Skinner was 5th in the NHL in individual expected goals the other day
Toffoli was 14th at that time.
He’d be a great get |

In all fairness, trading Risto over the summer would've made sense. We have a log jam. With Gilmour, Borgen and Pilut, we certainly have the depth to make a move and need middle 6 help.
He wasn't correct, you're right. But logic would say that it had to be an option. |

It’s absolutely still an option and is the obvious one.
The future of this D is Jokiharju/Dahlin up top.
We won’t be giving Risto a giant deal in two years to stay anyways |

Probably right. I assumed that some teams kicked tires, but the return just wasn't worth it for us to deal him. If his play is better this year we could potentially get a lot more in return. Might have been savy on Botts part. Time will tell.
